If the gradient is the same as transparency?

I have noted in the description that was used transparency (AI) or not. I used only the gradients in background (sky and middle meadow) and in eyes and dandelions. Is this the same?

Gradient is not transparency. It's a different tool.  How about the highlight on the boy's cheek?
