I tried to explain Video BM is really bad in the BM thread, but had no anwers...

So I try again here: making some generic research by keywords, it looks like OLD files (with many DWLDS) is on top, mixed with really new files.
Middle-aged files (not medieval, just 2 months ago) with some dowloads, so even with a good dwlds/time ratio, seems to be back far, even Vetta file just 2 months old.

The problem with old videos, once again, is that often they are PAL/NTSC, not even HD.
And they are atop, because in the past (even 3 4 5 years ago!!) they got many dowlds.

Maybe video BM should be slight different from photo-BM?

The key is how many buyers nowadays will come here to do the "search".

Ok, the less optimum search result the less buyers.

The cancer is their IT department. It is responsible for the whole failure, including bad search result from Google. Also price system, also communication...

But dodn't worry, iStock knows how to take care of us, especially for exclusives.

For those that are non-exclusive what are video sales like on other sites? I'm going through a drought at the moment! Not sure if it's the entire industry or istock?

Spencer_Whalen: Search for targoszstock blog. And than look at your stats... are your sales as steady over last 4-5 months ?

I am going indy. Final decision.

From his charts I can't see any increase in earnings since he went indy.

Of course here we see terrible decresase in sales and earnings, but from Targoszstock's charts I can't see any noticable improvement in his earnings since he's gone indy. Lot more work for what?
I'm also very unhappy with situation here and on the edge to go indy, but from this charts and some other people stories it seems that going indy is not a perfect solution.

I agree with Gizmo, with all the stats I've seen of those going indy, nothing convince me for the moment. When we look traffic ranks of microstocks, IS is still part of the best ones. Maybe on the long term it would be interesting but it means also to loose a great visibility here and spend a looooot of time to make portfolios elsewhere. Also, I'm convinced that IS has lost some traffic because of several bugs during site update but it can come again, and I'm definitely convinced that sales decreases like contributors and new files increase so importantly each days.

Everyone has to make business decisions for themselves. For me the 2 factors are most important at the moment - stability and being able to compete with copy cats... That's it. No hard feelings just calculations I've made. I'm not here to convince anyone for anything.

Anyway. Good luck to you all and hope for the best in 2013.

@Gizmo and others regarding indy vs excl etc...

I've dropped my excls video and photo and since January 21st my files are on several other sites - you all presume which ones. Sales aren't poring in just to say that, and I did managed to get 2000 clips to 9 agencies in a month or so. It's not all that hard work, but it's not easy also. And I think at least one whole year is needed for any business just to get things rolling.

Right now my video sales are equal at IS and other agencies... But it's only been almost one whole month! And yes, I have a decline in video sales at IS after canceling my EX status. They went down from 10-15 a month to 3 - 6 a month... So it's not a big deal... at all! For me that is

And regarding targosz and his blog, those are individual statistics and the vary alot from portfolio to portfolio! He got around 500 clips I got over 2000. His are more comercial than mine yet I do mostly nature etc... I'm leveled out in sale. End of January was ok but Feb is low low low. So read blogs, listen to people, but in the end it's just one more descision you have to make. I ain't comming back to excls ever again. The only thing that can bring me back is money and sales. Right now they are across the web. So am I.

Also, you CANNOT see improvement in sales when you go indy - right away. It takes time (as I've heard). Unless you are like me and anything above 10 sales is improvement )))

For me it's awesome! It's scary also but its awesome!

Cheers guys!

I haven't had a sale since the 8th Feb! It's been 10 days!!!

This is particulary awful for me! I normal get at least 1 a day but can get considerably more.

Anyone else finding this?

It's either my downloads arn'y being counted (wishful thinking)

BM has really screwed me over?

Buyers have vanised?

The Global Economy? (Although not to get a sale in 10 days all of a sudden is a bit impossible)?

I'm not really having any ambitions to upload at the moment! I'm just goona chill and spend time with the family withoutthe camera

mmmmm, means that it must be BM shift for me then! All my video's are from 2012 and I've read in the general forum that many people are finding 2012 files are being buried!

NOT HAPPY!

That is great. I have a small portfolio, but it seems to be alive again. Had some recent sales after a month if nothing.
