I've deactivated a handful of files, as a symbolic 'shot over the bows' guesture, with a deactivation message (copied to Support) outlining my reasons for participating in this action.
It's great to see that - despite all the cynisism - contibutors here are able to work out and follow through with a good way to send a clear message to anybody at iStock/Getty who cares in the least about those who create the work that this company is in the business of selling.
I have files in both the Microsoft and Google give-aways, but for me this action is about a lot more than that.
I'm also keeping my best work back from all agencies until April at least, when I'll make a decision about whether or not I feel able to trust iStock to market and sell my work, or if my efforts would be better spent working with a more responsible and responsive organisation.

I've deactivated all but one. And I don't want that remaining file to be part of some future giveaway, so depending on what (if anything) is announced next week, I may close the account.

Posted Sun Feb 3 1:46AM | Deactivated 250 images. Depending on whether there is any real information and action in the Istock anouncement next week will decide what to do with the remainder. |
