Posted Tue Jan 29 3:13PM | Did I just read a whole page of jokes in here?
This is serious business... I appreciate a bit of fun here and there... but one whole page? |

How about you relax. Be mad about that stuff that matters. If you don't think that levity is appropriate I understand but there is no point in preventing people from taking a break from the discussion to giggle for a minute. |
Posted Tue Jan 29 3:45PM | Truly, the chance to laugh really does lessen the stress. |
Posted Tue Jan 29 4:01PM | Love it all! |
Posted Tue Jan 29 4:46PM | come february 2, and beyond... i'll be here, busting my butt, as i always have, continuing to grow my business. talk is cheap. |

Seriously, you don't care at all? Ouch. |

Hopefully we'll all have businesses that are worth busting our butts over in the future but we have to fight for it, talk included.
Great port, BTW. Nice to see a (primarily) nature photog doing well.

Really? Serious = mad or angry? Sorry, my english doesn't go that far...
(I guess that's what you get for seconding what same moderator asked 7 hours ago and everyone but a few ignored. Yay!)
(btw, I'm so relaxed I atually overslept today).

Regarding D-Day. I have mixed "emotions" (business undesisiveness) about it. |

Sorry Lobo but this thread is a mess. It would be better to make an "unmoderated lame joke thread" in the off topic section and leave all the lame jokes there. That way people don't have to scan through this drivel. |
Posted Tue Jan 29 5:44PM | This thread is simple at best. While making jokes to lighten the situation can ease the tension, there are appropriate topics that works for and an appropriate time. This whole thread is pointless. Having a conversation about an entity right in front of the entity is just ridiculous. Making jokes about a very serious topic in the middle of a conversation that impacts several peoples livelihood is crass and extremely cavalier. |

Lurker here. I don't know where I stand. I've been watching all of this quietly for some time. My thoughts about this varies by the hour, and I'm checking back for updates. I'm not an exclusive and my portfolio isn't great, however like other photographers here, I hate seeing work given away. But hey, (wandering off topic) Albuquerque! Love your photos amygdala_imagery. My apologies if that was a faux pas, I don't forum post often... |

You can relax too. If you need help I can accommodate you. |

Okay, I'm one of those making jokes. Pardon me for that. I understand the seriousness of what's going on and what it means for a lot of people. But I've seen hard times in my time. I've been through the wringer many times over again. But through it all, I (and my family) have learned to laugh.
I'm not going to let whatever is happening at iStock rob me of my happiness. I'm going to be happy despite the crap at HQ and despite Getty. Yes, I'm mad. Yes, I'm outraged because there have been some crummy sh*t going on. But let's lighten up and learn to laugh through the hard times. And please let's not project onto others that cracking a joke is wrong. Because it isn't.
Dammit.

Posted Tue Jan 29 11:09PM | No one needs to apologize for taking some time to enjoy a moment of levity. For crying out loud, I'm the only one here who is a robot.
It's been an incredibly long time for most of us in here since we managed to show some emotion unrelated to anger, fear, or indignation. Allow people some human moments in here. If its something you can't handle you might not want to keep reading. I'm not going to change my personality to perpetuate the myth that we have stopped caring.
Anyway, this thread is something that would have existed in one way or another regardless. I could have chosen to kill the discussion and then have something else the vocal minority would rail on in all the other threads, but why bother? Yep, I said vocal minority. There are plenty of opinions out there that don't get heard because of the fear of an active group of forum vets destroying anything that is contrary to common group think. It can be intimidating in here on the best of days. Imagine what it's like on the worst of them.
Whew. I'm tired too, folks. It's important we reflect on what's important and try not to get annoyed by the little moments we afford ourselves to enjoy this place for .0001 posts out of a million. |

The last two words of PaulCowan's coherent post were 'Nobody knows'. In spite of the lack of information/communication some contributors understandably feel 'compelled to act', not because of pride but out of principle (and safety, referring to those with modell releasd images). So, because they are not in possesion of all the facts - will there be more deals like this? - they are faced with agonizing speculation: the pros and cons are weighed up, and it seems that any decision arrived at has to be the right one.
Of course this is serious. Peoples' livelihoods are at stake. Yesterday a colleague sent me a link http://meedia.de/internet/neue-google-bildersuche-erzuernt-seitenbetreiber/2013/01/29.html? concerning Google which I may post in the German forum - but they probably know about it already. Has anything been published in the USA or Canada?
And, to make matters worse, if that is possible, I have recently learnt that a Wankel is an engine - now I know why I get funny looks when I bring my car in for repair!
'Laughter is the valve on the pressure cooker of life. Either you laugh and suffer, or you got your beans or brains on the ceiling'. Wavy Gravy.
Let us not lose our sense of humor, how are we going to get along without it?

Hey, dont you know? in order to get perspective on things and at the same time relax, you have to take a break, right, a mental break, the people that cant do that are the ones getting burnt-out, hitting the wall so to speak.
Or would you prefer a whole thread, post after post, driveling about Feb.2nd ? which is no more then a piss in the ocean.
Seriously I wouldnt worry about it. Now go and get a beer or something.
all the best. |

I haven't noticably smiled in this forum since someone posted (in off-topic) some crazy video of animals voiced over with british accents! Brilliant, by the way...
Nothing wrong with passing a joke or two while waiting for your test results, right? Thank you to all who are keeping your humor and wits about you! Keeps you razor sharp too, by the way.
