Please don't tell me they've been working on it for at least 3 years.....

Totally, we have finally freed up the entire dev department to work on other things. Where is that international symbol for sarcasm when you need it?

I've been looking for that symbol, too.....

I'll will get whoever started that facebook page to start something in off-topic. We clearly need to resolve this immediately! smile

That was me!

We need an update on the Google Drive Deal. Will Getty/iStock continue to sell more images to Google? Will we be able to opt out?

As Lobo noted earlier: The Google Drive issues are still very important and there has been some progress in the discussions but we aren't going to be able to give much more information with this Newsletter. We aren't ignoring it or putting off anything in order to see how long it will take before we have fatigued the entire community on discussing it. It's important to us as well... We will continue to work on getting things together in the hopes of having something to share as soon as possible.

All of the above is still true. Again, as soon as we have something to share, we will.

Thank you, Kelvin. I will add that our next Newsletter will come mid-week NEXT week.

Given recent events it's no surprise to hear that we're being expected to wait longer again to hear about any progress that has been made on this.

In the meantime could you please confirm if there is now a way, using any permitted means, to find out how much of our work has been made available to Google Drive users under this deal.

I can confirm we will have a newsletter together midweek next week. Asking for more after I have already said I don't have more isn't going to magically create more for me to say. There is progress, there will be more on that as soon as we can communicate it. Trust me when I say I'm as anxious to provide clarity and resolution to this issue as the entire contributor base. You can keep pressuring me and I will keep pressuring the folks up the chain.

Ok thanks, will do :)

Given that iStock/Getty are in possession of all the details of regarding which files were licensed to Google under this deal, and that - maybe for perfectly good reasons - they took steps to shut down the only other straightforward method which allowed contributors to check how much of their work was affected, I hope it's seen as appropriate to ask why this information is being withheld.

Let me be clear:

WE WILL HAVE A NEWSLETTER MID-WEEK. That might mean Thursday but it won't be Friday. The fact that I'm mentioning that in this particular thread might lead people to believe that a full disclosure of all things Google Drive is coming. I'm not going to promise that until I see the copy saying "here is what we can say about Google Drive".

I wont be putting my feet anywhere near my mouth so please understand that the Newsletter will be flush with information on a number of things BUT I'm still pressuring the folks up the chain on clearance regarding the Google Drive issue. I can promise you one thing. I will continue to manage your expectations regarding this particular issue, because it's well above my pay grade to give anyone the impression that we will be able to provide anything right now. That said, I continue to punctuate all my communications up the chain with requests for more movement on the communication of what is being discussed on those higher levels.

We have lots of fingers crossed at HQ and elsewhere hoping we can communicate something this week. In spite of how easy it might seem it's a lot more difficult to get this resolved than you might think. Thanks, folks.

I work in construction. Once, while talking to a friend, I mentioned that something would happen in a week. He asked me if that was a week in real peoples time or a week in construction peoples time.
