Compared to Jan 2012


Portfolio: + 35%  (around 1000 images)
Royalty rate: + 15%


DL: -46%
Income: -8% 

Thats a Gross revenue loss of 58% for 2012.

If istock wishes to hold onto its exclusive contributors, they need to find a way to reduce that gross loss figure to an absolute maximum of between 15% and 20% to make a relatively stable income sustainable.

It's not sustainable. I was going to go exclusive again, but didn't. I have my good reasons.

Sigh, this is getting more depressing with every passing month.

What's the use trying anymore when it's nothing but down, down, DOWN - ever since September.

Also continuing downward spiral since Sept... Jan 2013 sales were 2/3 of that of Jan 2012. 


This has been the worst January since January 2007

A reevaluation. This was comfortably my BME.

January was pretty bad. Hoping against hope that things will change for the better soon. 

I updated my post with sales data but my post was already gone. (The BM question was also moved to the BM thread)


Here they are again:


Jan sales was in $, compared with


Jan 2012: -23%. Portfolio increase was +38% (when combined: -51%)


Oct 2012: -50%


 


 

The downward slide here continues...seriously wondering if there is any point to uploading any more here.

As a note, I feel like the much maligned BM in December actually helped me out, and the changes that everyone is happier with have hurt me. 


But I also feel like BM discussions are a quagmire best avoided...

I wish I could send you a dollar right now.

By the end of Jan 2012 I had 582 files available
By the end of Jan 2013 I had 1156 files available

almost 99% increase

Jan 2012 non exclusive
Jan 2013 exclusive [since August 2012]

Jan 2012 = 21 dls
Jan 2012 = 40 dls

Almost 91%

So the increase is almost identical, and I basically can not object. However, I was expecting [my fault] that doubling the port might double the number of dls even for non exclusive [when I checked it did, so it worked for me like that]

Exclusivity promised greater exposure, so in short I think it underperforms a little [50-60dls would be the area I'd be rationally expecting]

My January revenues were almost exactly the same as January 2012, but my portfolio was much larger this year. Sad.

My January sales were below my expectations but higher than both Jan and Dec 2012 - about 10%


I'll take it as positive since after all it's reversed trend from the disappointing end of 2012.


Looking forward with renewed hope for coming months to see some result of work I put in istock!

Photo sales have days, sometime a week without a sale. That's dire ! My earnings here are nearly all audio and Getty.
