"Your activity will be aggregated to a single line item showing your total share in the revenue for that period from Yahoo!. Let’s say we had a similar deal with another company—you would see 2 aggregated line items, one for each customer."

I don't want just a one number line item. I want to know how many uses (views) made that money. Since that article is old, and there is now an actual program in place, I'd like details on it.

So... will the royalties be paid out as part of our GI payments at the end of the month?

As far as actually making money on this deal remains to be seen! again What are we payed? and as far as a fix for the BM... I mean come on sure we are happy but I want to hear about bringing buyers to iStock! Yeah I sell video here, no really I do.

It isn't clear whether media other than photos are available with Connect.

I might just be missing it, but are all Istock images in the Connect program, or is this applied only to images with Getty?

Here is the problem "sorry if this seems negative" Getty can pay you per 1000 clicks or any number you can think of. It is designed so they earn the real $$ and the finance guys have worked it so you will get a certain amount on this. It is not designed for you to hit the lottery with a million clicks and you walk away with 100k. The Google deal has made it clear they are in this to make $$ not pay the artist what they deserve. So where are the details? Are they trying to soften the blow by saying the payments are small? I bet if theclick directed you to the image on Getty or iStock you would earn a lot more $$$.

^^ Exactly my thoughts jjnneff. Notice "Since Connect payments are small". If they are saying they are "small", it must be they are pico tiny.

Can you explain this line please? "Connect embeds Getty Images content, metadata and search functionality directly inside customer's tools, products and services". 


Could you also link to a site where it is being used so we can see it in action.?


Does this mean an ad on yahoo could use mutliple images from Getty (different images at different times) and the image would only be "paid for" when someone clicks on it?  It sounds like connect users pay a fee to Getty to use connect and then can use images for free and we would only be paid if someone clicks on them?  Is this correct?  It seems like another way for Getty to make money from our images and avoid having to pay us royalties.  Without our images Getty couldn't offer the connect service but the fees collected will mainly be for usage of connect and not for image usage.  Please clarify this.

I have a suggestion for the forum revamp. Have a category for copywrite/logo issues. Someplace where a contributer can post questions and have them answered BEFORE submitting images. Guidelines. Specific cases.


A couple areas I would have liked more guidance before submitting were ties and guitars. Scout was very helpful but has a lot to do already

/Thanks for the update. I have few questions on the E+ collection.


1. When E+ was introduced, IS encouraged us to add files to E+ collection through Newsletter. Is still the case? Can we get a better E+ interace so that it is easy to add to the collection? 


2. If we add fresh images to E+ collection, how long it will take to mirror at Getty site?


If E+ are given due prominence in BM, I am sure E+ does really well.


Also, update on low number of views is greatly appreciated.

For the number of views that Yahoo gets, the pay per view must be incredibly tiny, which, I guess is ok, if the end result is paid appropriately and fairly.

What I meant is that say if contributors have 10% of images in E+ give weightage accordingly in BM.

This is a little bit of a concern for me. Am I reading this wrong? Will API customers have the unlimited right to sell our photo's and we get paid the small amount of one click....Please clarify.

No Jodi, the pay per click is just because the user clicked to look at the closeup. It is pay per view, not pay per download. The closeup page has an ad on it so that is the revenue source. If they want to buy a license to the image they click and are directed to Getty to make a standard purchase.


What they don't say is how much Getty gets per click and I am not sure if we get the standard % of that or if our payout is different too. Those would be my questions.
