I was going to buy a Canon 5D Mark 3 today, and reading some reviews on the way I went back home. For pictures it's fine, but for video some people claim the smaller Panasonic GH3 is a lot better. Does anybody know more?

GH3 can be hacked to offer a higher bitrate, more manual controls, etc. It's a better camera for video in just about every technically measurable way.
Unless you really need a full-frame sensor, the GH3 would be the smarter investment over the 5DmkIII for video alone.

Is the hack for the GH3 already out? Im thinking you have the GH2 in mind. BTW this discussion went extensively deep at facebook.

I'm likely going with the GH3 and getting a metabones speedbooster to go with it to use full-frame lenses. And, possibly an anamorphic to go with it as well.
For raw image quality, I think the MIII might have a slight edge from the samples I've seen, but not by much... and the aditional functionality and much lower cost of the GH3 more than makes up for it.

For me moire is a killer - MIII 10/10 GH3 5/10 (not as good as the GH2!)
