I have the following problem with the order of keywords.
I have photos of many cities and a lot of them get a very bad BM ranking because the city name isn't the first keyword in the list. But how can I do that? Even if I write it on the first place when I edit the list it can appear on any other position in the list which is stored.

In this example "Nanjing road" is on top of my list and "Shanghai" is second but they appear on position 4 and 5 only:

/22342886

Here I needed to delete all other keywords (approx 15) just to have Guangzhou (or Kanton) on the first place of the list.

/22570777

This happens with many of my photos and not only with city names, does anybody know what to do?

Best Regards

Tom

You cannot affect the order of keywords. They (should) reflect the number of viewers that locate your image using each keyword. So, the first keyword has been the most effective in driving viewers to your image page.

Thanks Roger! Good to know how the system works.

But it this realy useful? Maybe many people are searching for laser or night but will they be satisfied with the photo of the Guangzhou tower? I decided to delete them to give customers a chance to search for Guangzhou and find the Guangzhou tower.

I try to place my keywords in a particular order and found this affective when files are new.  This (I believe) also helps when buyers use find similar button under image box.

However, I found my recent uploads (Dec - Jan) keywords were totally out of order shortly after acceptance.  I find it hard to believe buyers are choosing a particular photo with the top search keywords of - Horizontal, looking at camera, photography, especially with 0 views.

Images that start out with weak leading keywords (I believe) could loose position early or have poor early view totals.  Over time the important keywords seem to rise to the top, but I loose good BM positioning early -- I think.  I'm not sure why there seems to be shift in keyword order after acceptance. But I don't recall this happening in the pre BM issues ( Sept 2012 ).

Now to be fair, I haven't uploaded since January and not sure if this is the new norm or I'm the only one having this experience.  I have not read any posts regarding my findings.

^ You probably have read that views are screwed.

If the placement of keywords depends upon views, then that means that keyword placement is screwed.

QED.

I have also noticed the order is completely changed after acceptance.  Is there a definitive answer on does the order of the keywords effect visibility of the image or no and if so what can we change to make the terms appear in a more relavent order?  I was always under the impression the first keyword was the most relevant and the order did matter but that was basically my own conclusion.

I did not know anything about the relevance as a function of 'order of keywords, I wonder if anyone can explain well the mechanism.
thanks
