Hi,

I recently tought about a thing that is already going on photo side of istock. Something like Battle Cage (?), competitions about some topic - but in audio.

I don't know if You guys from headquarters tought about such thing ?

It could be very nice, maybe there could be some sample given in the beginning and then contributors would have to arrange it or build an composition based on it, or maybe there could be a topic/title and then variations about it etc.

That could be very crative and encouraging to 'move our brains' a little bit

What do You think about it ?smile

(hope i didn't repeat the topic)

I was thinking the same a few days ago.. Maybe we could have a drum pattern and create the harmony above. It could be cool to see how a song with the same rythm can sound totally different with different music and intruments. But I'm not sure if it's good for the istock library to have several songs with exactly the same drums.. Anyway I agree that it could be an extra motivation.

We've though about it. We pictured that movie where the Karate Kid plays guitar against the Devil but on computers with audio files. I don't know why they didn't call it Karate Kid 3. It was something more confusing but it was prettying the same plot as the original Karate Kid. I digress.

Yes, it would be fun to see the Audio side duke it out. Let us know how you think this can be accomplished. Let is know how it could be judged.

I think that the comptetition could be out of istock collection - i mean the tracks that contributors will create shouldn't go into istock collection. If they would it could make our ideas kind of 'commercial', and we wouldn't make tracks that are crazy and completely out of this world. Besides sometimes, author may want to make track that not meets the requirements of istock collection - in example ends rapidly with cracks and beeps smile

You may ask - what would be the profit for contributor and istock in it, if the tracks won't come in to collection?

I Think advertisement, if you win, that means You are creative and good professionalist, and that will encourage people to search in Your portfolio. Maybe istock can inform on main audio page about this kind of competitions.

Here it is how i feel it could work:

- Announcement of the Comptetition

- Drawing contributors that informed they want to participate in competition (maybe tickbox in profile like steel cage, or in forum topic)

- Drawed pair of contributors have time for making their track - 1 week in example, (or maybe think about rapid/sprint competitions, 1 day for track! biggrin that would be so crazy !smile - just kidding...or not ?smile)

- Uploading their tracks.

- Poll about which track is the best - in contributors society.

- The winner gets infinite glory and splendor...^^smile

I like your style Tmk_d...smile Back in the day I used to talk about this all the time. I still would love to see it happen.
Another possible suggestion for the creators of the soon to be legendary Audio Battle Cage...
How about the competitors start with the same basic foundation (whatever that might be) groove, guitar riff, etc..
they then throw a designated amount of "moves" back and forth showcasing there skills (Such As Karate Kid Plays Guitar as Lobo suggested that rocks btw)...And the community can watch and vote on the "moves"
The Audio Battle Idea is cool for the following reasons and then some. I'll just give you 3.

1. Well, its just fun
2. It serves a purpose by showing the creative process and how different artists craft a track.
3. The possibility of a shiny blingy something or jazzy new icon.

good idea indeed, and even though I wonder if I will be able to find time to partecipate, I would be happy to see how such Cage would evolve!

Here is a link to the RDB lightbox wink

Thank you for the link, but I miss my file (Summer (full lenght) RDB
Lori, have you forgotten me?

Yes I remember that file! It was good smile But I was unable to add it to the lightbox? Multiple times. I just tried again and it said unable to add. Sad! sad I think you deserve a Kazoo for that at the very least. smile

It is my hope that I can continue the RDB Awards and as it evolves so will the prizes. smile

I'll tell you what...Next year this track automatically goes into the RDB Awards lightbox no matter the theme and will get special consideration in my nontest. Why? because it is a nontest and there fore I can. Sorry you were left out.

No problem. I can wait for the next RDB Awards. Thanks

Of course! it was a "Nontest"as it was the official unofficial RDB awards. HAHA. The RDB awards is vintage iStockaudio.

Maybe it should be the RDB Battle Cage? Marbury was the big winner, if memory serves? he walked away with some sweet cash.

You still deserve a Kazoo btw.
