Just ordered Canon EOS 5D Mark III  I have a very small studio without much depth. I have a 85mm that is good for portraits, and a 70-200mm 2:8 which I don't love. I need something for stock photography that is crisp for small groups of 6-8 people. Would the 24-70 2.8 work? Or do I want a 55mm prime lens??? 1.2????   Too many choices...help!!! Thanks so much for all of your help!!!!

Thanks for the reply.  Is it sharp enough?

Most of my stuff is taken with the 24-105. Plenty sharp on my 5DIII. Very versatile lens but if I were going to work mostly in a small studio I'd consider the 24-70/2.8. I had a very hard time choosing between the two.

Can you cancel your camera order?  The reason I ask is because you can normally get that camera with the lens you want for MUCH cheaper if you buy them together instead of separately (and probably save yourself $700).  Enjoy your new gear!

Agree with Rob - the kit combo of body and that lens are usually much less than buying separately.

But the 24-105 is a very versatile lens. I have to force myself to take it off and use other more creative lenses as that is just so reliable and flexible when shooting standard stock content.

Thanks guys!  I can always return them.  Where do you usually buy?

B&H is my favorite. I also sometimes buy from Adorama. And I try to support the local camera shops some too.

^ Not sure about Amazon, but has a good exchange return policy.
