A mixed bag for me.

Compared to previous month:

DLs: +34%
$$$: +25%

Compared to previous year:

DLs: -24%
$$$: -11%

I can't emphasise enough how little I have uploaded over the last year though.

I only had 20 DLs in my first month as an exclusive. As NOT exclusive, I also had 20 DLs. (Compared with January) Only the Royalty Rate has been changed visibly.

Compared to MArch 2012:

Folio increase - 30%
RC Increase  - 15%
Revenue - down 16%

This equates to a total loss of 61% over 12 months. Last month (Feb) was a total loss of 46% over 12 months. Completely unsustainable and getting less so.

Downloads were down 54% compared to March 2012.

I posted my truly woeful figures earlier in the hope that the April sales thread won't be similarly bad, so I ask what is being done to turn this around and improve the contributor's situation/plight? Too many others are having an equally torrid time, so it's not just me, and soon there will be no reason or incentive to continue uploading (though truth be told that time may have passed). Is there something we can hold out for, or are we just going to continue drifting along as we have been?

Compared to previous month:

DLs: -15%
$$$: -12%

Compared to March 2012:

DLs: -44%
$$$: -39%

Compared to March 2011:

DLs: -50%
$$$: -50%

I have increased my port by over 420 files since 1st March 2012.

I have increased my port by over 1200 files since 1st March 2011.

My files are not massive sellers, hence the large Folio. But these numbers do not look good...

If you would like to participate in this thread please provide some statistical commentary rather than just using caps lock(two posts were removed).

So far we have people providing this months stats vs last year and in some cases people are mentioning the previous months stats for reference. I don't think we need people posting open letters in caps locks in here as it's not really within the scope of this particular thread to accommodate those types of discussions.

I don't know about you, but I HATE holidays. My sales suck during holidays.

So now that Thanksgiving is over, and Christmas is over; and now that New Year's Day, MLK Day, President's Day and Valentine's Day are over; and Easter, Spring Break and Canadian Holidays are over. Can we PLEASE get some images sold before everyone goes on VACATION!!!!

For what it's worth...
For me, this is not a hobby, it is a business. That being said, I have always found that it is best to look at sales trends annually, rather than monthly. I have seen explosive growth during times when I worked the hardest... high input of quality imagery yields a higher return… again, speaking from my personal experience. With that being said, from 2006 to 2009, I worked my tail off and grew my portfolio not just in quantity, but quality of images. During those three years, I saw growth in actual sales dollars at a staggering 1080%. Yes, that is one-thousand-eighty percent in three years time. That growth was directly proportionate to my input as my portfolio grew from 95 images in 2006 to over 600 images in 2007 then over 1,000 images by 2009 with a focus on quality, usable images, not just quantity.

I believe it was about 2010 when I went on cruise control, enjoying the steady income that I became complacent (even apathetic) and didn't put quite the same effort into it.  Add to that all of the changes made in royalty rates and all of the other problems here over the last 3 years, and I've seen a tremendous drop in sales. From 2009 to 2012, I saw a drop in sales of 60.8%. That is partially because of the changes made by istock and partially because of the general sense of apathy and frustration on my part due to declining sales. In other words, I let declining sales effect my attitude about doing what I love, which is creating images that will sell and make me money.

I've sold over 50,000 image licenses here on a portfolio of less then 1,200 images. I've now increased my input, both here and on Getty again and have begun to see a positive upswing in numbers. My hope for this year is to grow my portfolio, with a more focused effort on generating higher sales.

Again... for what it's worth. Take it or leave it, just don't hammer me with negativity. To quote Sweet Brown… Ain't nobody got time fuh dat!

i think your view is pretty accurate. it has always been a yearly thing. it has always been about working hard.

i have noticed with the micro crowd it is all about instant this and instant that with a sense of dire panic or sugar fuelled enthusiasm at every twist and turn.

this whole stock thing is a roller coaster ride, so hang on and enjoy it.

For me as a fresh contributor that has most images upload in 2012-2013 thing looks like broken roller coaster . because sometimes I have a good ride but sometimes I hit the ground and it is quite paintfull. I think that photografers that have uploaded images for years have much steadier income because those older images have chance to make good position in search.

For me it is dificult to have constant work because al my shooting costs, so no sale no images plain and simple. Now I'm financing this from other sources but I'm not sure how long I could do that. I have a lot of planed shootings but costs exceedes my current finantial potential which currently is very low .

Meanwhile, back in the March 2013 sales report thread...

If anyone has anything on topic to contribute, that would be interesting.

Sorry, just trying to give a long-term perspective snapshot that I thought was relative and might be 'interesting' to some.

Worst March since 2007
But on the plus side, sales picked up between the 1st and 2nd week of March and have been looking somewhat decent since. Also had a few EL's and Getty sales.
