Hello and apologies for being gone so long....

Here at HQ, we have been beavering away, working out the best way to brief out content needs to our contributors as well as help you better when you are planning shoots. There is now a gang of people who can help you make decisions about locations, models, styling, shoot lists and we want to make that facility available to any Exclusive contributor who wants it.

Non-Exclusives will be receiving Creative briefs similar to the way we have always done it. For our Exclusives we want to offer more in-depth information and of course feedback.

As for me, I have met many of you at the Berlin iStockalypse and will see those that make it to LA next month. My career in photography has been predominantly in Creative Research (15 years and counting) at Stone (previously Tony Stone Images for those that remember that far back) then Getty Images and now at iStock. My job is to provide regular briefs/articles to you guys so that you are on top of the most current trends, understand what your customers are saying and appreciate where the content gaps are.

Watch this space in the next 24 hours or so - we will be publishing the first brief plus info on how to contact us.

Rebecca (another Rebecca!)

Most interesting read. I'll shoot and edit my work with these criteria in mind. Thanks a lot!

Hi Luis,

The complete lightbox should be accessible via this link. Some iStock, some Getty, some Flickr.

So what's up with this Shoot Plan Template? We can actually fill this out and get feedback on our shoot ideas? What kind of feedback can we expect? How long will it take to get feedback (i.e. what kind of lead time do I need to plan in)? Is this for all shoots? Or just local themed shoots?

Yes you can and it is for any Exclusive shoots. The feedback will be anything we know will help you to shoot more saleable content.

I cannot guarantee turn around times but we will endeavour to go as quick as our fingers can type! The reason we ask for the shoot date is so we can prioritise those last minute shoots but would appreciate you letting us know if you have time to spare.

Great news! So I found the template, and was able to open it in 'Open Office' on my Mac but it's blank except for the title. Any chance of getting a pdf version?

Try getting a copy from this link:https://dl.dropbox.com/u/16811508/iStock_ShootTemplate_2013.docx

If it doesn't work for you then will have to organise a PDF.

KJ- fixed link

Last time we had a keyword for a brief, we were told to apply it to new images only - is this still the case? Also, do you want landscapes keyworded for this brief if they specific rather than generic e.g. grass? Or only people images? At the moment, a search leaves me uncertain.
