I rarely post on the forum, and when I do, I admit, they're usually deleted.(Sorry Lobo). I just wanted to thank the inspectors for working so hard. I received a rejection based on maintaining the quality of the collection, and I think that's the best reason I've had. It inspires me to work harder and keep the quality up, and keep learning to improve.

How about you guys, what inspires you to take great pictures for iStock?

Sales. Nothing else really validates quality or effort.

Great question

For me it is the Vetta collection, I absolutely love it and if I dont get my daily fix of trawling through the new additions I feel like the day is incomplete!

although it dosen't happen very often, having an image accepted into the collection makes for a mighty fine day.

It inspires me when my images are seen by a buying public (ahem... BM), and I get inspired when those views result in sales, and I get super duper inspired when money gets transferred to my bank account. When those things don't happen, inspiration is lost on me.

Kelvin wins the mod pool on how many posts it would take for a post that includes a comment that is related to BM.

This is why threads like this never last very long. You can't expect people to just participate. Oh well.

You're welcome, Kelvin, you sexy thing. A cut from your winnings would also inspire me.

I won, I won!

I think I'm generally inspired to shoot for iStock based on what I may earn but also I still get a buzz from seeing some of the cool uses that my images get used for.

I need some inspiration.  How do you go about seeing how your images are used?

Ideas to a creative visual solution is my inspiration. Another is sunrises. At least 4 or 5 days a week, I get up very early, grab my camera, a fresh, hot cup of coffee, and walk to a wildife area close to my house. I want to see what the sunrise brings each day. It's the same sun, and the same sky, but what can I discover new and different with it today.

In an average lifetime, you could see about 25,000 sunrises. You miss a lot of them because of things like growing up, learning how to walk and talk, and work. I bet I've missed 4000 or 5000 of them in my lifetime already. I'm not making that mistake any more. Find your passion, enjoy it every day, and pursue it like you were going to lose it tomorrow. Good luck.

I need some inspiration.  How do you go about seeing how your images are used?

Google has a great "Reverse Image Search" feature which I use to find my files (there is even a Firefox Add-on for this).  TinEye is another site that works to help find images but I find less of mine with that one.  Good luck searching!

I get inspired by seeing other istockers pics of places I want to go. Even when I was non exclusive, I used istock photogs as inspiration to get out with my camera.

This is a positive & potentially constructive thread. Let's keep any image pimping to the weekly showcase thread, which can be found here.

Thank you!

Money will always be inspiring but seeing an image blown up on the side of a truck or walking into a store and seeing one of my images used on a giant display poster is also very inspiring, I'm also inspired each time I attend an iStock event and get to meet so many talented people.

The lens cap is off and in a moment that sweet sound of the shutter......I still find photography  really enjoyable.

Like Shank says, except my lens cap is not always off when I shoot  Money helps, but first and foremost it is solving problems and creating the images.

I enjoy seeing things from a new angle, improving my skill set, salivating over gear I could potentially buy, stoking my models out with In Action finds, entertaining my father as he studies my new uploads as often as they are in, shooting with great people, chatting photography with anyone, the adrenaline rush of an engaging shoot, travel and exploring a new destination through my viewfinder, having images being rated and commented on by peers, post processing to my favorite music, dreaming up new concepts, finding fun props, watching an image go up in flames, going to bed satisfied I had a great day with the camera, being humored that certain images actually sold, and getting a solid $$$ return is fun, too.

The list goes on.
