So from what I hear vector sale day was a pretty good experience for (almost) everyone. Is IStock planning on having a photo sale day by any chance? Or perhaps just Exclusive photos sale? Or Vetta sale?

It's easy to see the results being posted and get excited, but I'm interested to hear if illustrators see a dropoff after the sale. The problem with this kind of sale is there appears to be no way of measuring its effectiveness; how can anyone know if the sales would have happened regardless of the temporary price drop, and how many of the discounted sales were possible future-full-price sales? Just some food for thought.

I'm willing to take that chance. Vetta was selling wonderfully until IS raised prices by 50% (at the same time slashing out cut by the same 50%) and it's now it's dead in the water. Every time there's a vetta sale I sell few of them per day. Outside of that, it's few per month.

I think it's worth trying, however Lobo already mentioned there is no plan.

Don't do it! If anything, just lower the prices once and for all.
The after-sale days have been catastrophic for me. Worst week since I joined istock.

I wish the company would do something to stimulate weekend sales.

With the current economic situatic I believe that would lead to most of people buying on weekends and then the weekdays would be much worse.

Now that some days have passed since the vector sale, it might be interesting to know how the other contributors have fared AFTER it.
I for one wouldn't be happy if I were to sell in a day what I usually sell in a month and then nothing at all for the rest of the month itself. I might even end up worse off.

On the whole though I guess that it's very difficult for us to make educated and rational decisions about this. We just have too little information. The management here is a much better position to evaluate this and since they profit just as we do it might be wiser to let them worry about this and just keep shooting. I'm not saying that talking here is pointless and that high above they're always right of course...

Thanks for the suggestion, but there are no current plans to offer a similar photo sale. If iStock decides that one would be beneficial, I'm sure they will announce it with the appropriate fanfare.

I'm very new in IS, I don't think sales can help.

What I see in my country, Italy, is that other stock agencies are quite active in marketing.
Working on prices is not always effective.
I think it should be more interesting to plan marketing actions like partecipating on events as partner, find special agreements with categories of buyers or even with contributors which are often also buyers.
IS should work a little more on his branding in the different regional areas.
I remember the site of a contributor which was called "An Italian guy in IStock". I think that site worked very well in branding for IStock as well for his own work.
I think buyers should feel IStock more close to their profession, not only a stock site with Ok prices.
And also, price difference between exclusive and not exclusive contributors should be more clear also for buyers. We are now in a situation that prices are more or less the same for buyers while incoming is different cor EXCL and Non-EXCL contributors, the difference should be more remarkable. Buyers should have economic advantages for nonexclusive contributions. Otherwise all materials are considered too expensive in relation with other agencies, this situation is very evident in video.
