Can Hotel names be in the background for non-editorial photos?

I have some cityscape photos I'd like to sell but some of them have Hotel names/logos or some company names in them on the buildings. In the guidelines for photos (point 7.0) it says that no brands should be visible for non-editorial shots but point 7.3 seems to say that it is okay as long as the brands are only in the background and not in the main focus which is the case for my photos. The names/brands can sometimes be read but are very small and take up only a very small part of the image (probably < 1%).

Would those photos qualify for non-editorial or not?

You will need to remove ALL visible logos for your file to be accepted into the regular collection.  If you want a second opinion that you have done enough, feel free to post in the Critique Request forum and the folks in there will be able to help you out.  However, make sure you read THIS first.  Have fun cloning!

Not sure what section 7.3 means because even the smallest or blurry name, or logo will get the picture rejected. Everything needs to come out including numbers and addresses on the buildings, houses and mailboxes. Also directional signs if they contain the name of something like an aguarium or staudium. The way I handle it now is if you can see, even blurry, take it out.

... and if I may add something, just bear in mind that inspectors seem to wear specially designed magnifying goggles when looking at pictures

You'll find yourself removing anything you can see, then you file gets rejected, and you end up finding that tiny fuzzy little logo in the corner you hadn't seen before and feeling like an idiot. It just happened to me a couple of day ago.

hehe, yeah, I know what you mean. I once submitted a cityscape of Florence and was sure it had nothing in it but it got rejected first because it had some tiny logo on a museum.

Thanks for the answers.
