i know this has been mentioned in the past, and the thread locked.

but does IS have any intention of making the site move a bit faster? the amount of time it takes to download a page is painfully slow. i fear this will only result in buyers moving faster to another site to buy images than it takes them to download a page here.

i am waiting 5 - 15 seconds per page to download on average. logging in... i want to log out faster than it takes to log in.

somebody needs to seriously look into this.

There is always work ongoing to improve the performance and speed of the site. I don't have an explanation for you as to why we see the noticeable slow downs that we sometimes do, but currently the site is running pretty much fine here in terms of speed. I noticed earlier that the forums were not showing the times that posts had been made accurately, which is often an indicator that there is an issue with a server or site maintenance being done, but searches seem to be taking about as long as they usually do.

not from this end. log in is very slow. search is quick, but the timelapse to get a larger thumb is slow. overall, from the many sites i log into daily this is about the slowest of them all. it has been this way for quite some time as previously brought up in another post that was locked.

the tech guys need to really look into this, as this is not the first time it has been brought up.

my concern is that time is money from a buyers perspective and if they have time to get a cup of coffee while waiting to log in, then they will ultimately go elsewhere to purchase images.

I confirm what laughingmango says. When I log in, upload or even try to see my uploads or to sort them differently, it always takes an unusual amount of time (I have 100 Mbit/sec internet speed and other sites are super fast). This is going on for months now...

same here in California. Dramatically slower than any other site. I usually open another window to browse other sites while waiting for page(s) to load here on iStock.

I´m in Austria, site is very slow for more than a month and I mentioned that several times. This has to be utmost priority and for sure is more important than any update you are planning to whatever functionality. But it seems nobody cares about that - except contributors and very likely buyers. It is way beyond me why iStock doesn´t make this number 1 priority.

From Saint Lucia

Very slow.

For quite some time now. Thought my computer(s) had a problem but I decided to check help forum just to see if anything of this sort is mentioned. Turns out to be the top thread.

Very annoying...please work on this.

An indication of the slowness of this site! Took nearly 20 seconds to respond after I clicked the "Add Reply" button for my above post.

Same problem here.  Last three days have been terrible.

Feels like we're back in the 90s!  This is dreadful.  It's not subjective, either.  Test the following URL on any website speed measurer and see how it compares to others:

PS: one potential test is http://tools.pingdom.com/fpt/

Hi,

Sorry to hear the site has been slow for some of you. I can't run any tests myself right now, as I'm just on my phone, but even on my phone, that Vetta link shows me a page of 200 images and loads in about 4 seconds, which doesn't seem too shabby.

I'm not sure why some people report significantly worse performance than others but the Dev team can be aided in their work to resolve the issue if people report any site issues by opening a support ticket and providing info of their set ups and any specifics that may be relevant, such as pages that are particularly affected or times when the issues are better or worse.

I too have times when site speed is poorer, but generally the site doesn't crawl for me in the manner described by some in this thread and when it is slow, it tends to be when maintenance or site changes are happening. Again, if anyone is having persistent issues, the best way to get help and to help iStock run better is to let us know the details in a support ticket.

If anyone would like to offer any specifics, here's the link to the support page:

Thanks.

the average online shopper expects a page to load in two seconds or less, down from four seconds in 2006; and after three seconds, up to 40% will abandon your website.

do you really think buyers are going to waste their time sending in support tickets about a dreadfully slow site or are they going to move on to another site and spend their money?

one would think a company that relies solely on the internet for revenue would get off their ass and fix this problem yesterday.

this has been mentioned in a thread recently and that thread was locked.

i will time how long it takes to post this reply.

As previously explained, we are aware that some people have reported slower site speeds. Not everyone is affected in the same way or to the same degree though. We already have people working at HQ to improve the site's performance. However, if anyone is persistently troubled by slow page loads, then it is recommended that they open a support ticket. This helps iStock to address specific concerns. It provides iStock with more detailed data to analyse. It also increases the chance of the reported issues being diagnosed and addressed more quickly.

If anyone doesn't want to help or doesn't want to open a support ticket, that's absolutely fine. But please realise that simply reporting this issue in the forums, without the necessary details, is not likely to help things get better, nor does it command as much attention as a support ticket does. Raising support tickets raises the priority any issue is likely to be given. If this is an issue you believe should be addressed with greater priority, then raising a support ticket can only increase the priority that HQ attach to remedying it.
