Creative Research

Welcome to the Creative Research Forum for iStock Contributors. Follow this forum for briefs and reports on our collection needs, industry trends, and creative challenges.

What is Creative Research?
The Creative Research team at Getty Images and iStock analyzes the content of our collections, how and where that content gets downloaded, and how it is put to use out there in the world.

We look at images through a variety of lenses, breaking them down by category, genre, region, and audience, in order to spot trends and see patterns. We follow stock imagery in use across different segments and industries, to see what is popular and how it's being used.

Check the links below for more information

  • iStock Creative Brief Archive
    • When a new Creative brief is prepared we send these briefs out via email. There will also be a forum thread opened in this section for any questions you might have.
  • iStockneed - Twitter Account
    • The iStockneed twitter account is updated regularly so make sure you are checking in from time to time. You don't need to be a twitter user to check the feed, but if you have any questions you will need to have an active twitter account and be following our feed to participate in any discussions.
  • Fuel- Cool stuff and new images — found and shared by iStock.
    • This blog will feature terrific content from the contributor base weekly
  • Curve by Getty
    • This blog is focused on Getty Images need specifically. It's a handy blog to follow if you are also curious about what Getty customers are looking for.

Creative briefs aren't necessarily on a monthly schedule. It's our intention to get a brief out at least every two months. We hope this can help the contributor base plan and strategize the content they shoot in order to accommodate the needs of our customers. Please let us know if you have any suggestions going forward by posting in our Suggestion Forum. Title your suggestion with "Creative Research:"
