![]() ![]() ![]() Posted Sat Nov 18, 2006 4:30PM | Here are a few guidelines to keep in mind so that everyone gets the most out of their participation: :: This is not a job posting forum. These are requests for images you would like to see uploaded to iStock only. :: Include as much detail as possible, including deadlines. This is in your benefit to get quick turn around and an image exactly as you had in mind. :: Keep it updated. Once you have started a thread, be sure to frequently return and keep contributors updated on the status. Add "COMPLETED" to the thread title, by editing your original post, once your request has been delivered, (or "In Progress", "Ongoing" and "Renewed"). :: DO NOT attempt to push your portfolio, or images, unless it specifically meets the need of the request. Images not meeting the specifics of the request will be removed without notice. Repeat offenders will lose forum posting privileges. :: DO NOT use the Request forum to seek ideas for your portfolio. For example: posting threads with a theme of "what are you in search of..." or "is anyone looking for..." will immediately be locked. :: Images submitted in response to a request need to pass the same standards as any other image and receive no special treatment. :: There are no guarantees that requests will be filled, or that files submitted toward requests will be downloaded. Enter at your own risk. :: After your image has been approved you can place a thumbnail and link in the relevant request thread. Don't post your work in a thread if you start by saying anything like "I know its not what your looking for but" or your post will be deleted without notice. Fill the request as described or take a pass. Don't spam. Don't waste people's time. Threads not respecting these guidelines will be removed without notice. ![]() Posted Thu Sep 13, 2007 10:18PM | Is there a way to sort this forum by image type? In other words, if I only do illustration can I exclude requests for photos? Or sort in some way? Thanks... I'm new obviously! (Edited on 2007-09-13 22:19:53 by blackbeangum) |
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Posted Tue Nov 13, 2007 3:31PM | I recently responded to an image request - sometimes I do a search for the image on the site when I think it odd that the OP can't find something suitable, but where I also know that I personally have nothing that fits the request. I am getting increasingly puzzled by the insistence of some contribs to post images that clearly do not meet the requirements of the OP. I believe that this does no-one any favours - not even the people who post the images. This forum is not an excuse to pimp images - it just makes us all look unprofessional. Please read the requests carefully, and let's concentrate on satisfying the needs of our buyers and the dls will look after themselves |

![]() ![]() ![]() Posted Thu Nov 15, 2007 7:57AM | There is no way to sort the forum by request type. Hopefully the requester would make the file type clear in the thread title. If you poke in every few days it shouldn't be too hard to scan the newest requests. |
![]() Posted Fri Dec 7, 2007 1:26AM | So many pictures being posted that clearly aren't relevant to the request! If I designer asks for children playing in a swimming pool, he doesn't want a middle aged business man in the sea! Can't the admins go through and remove photos that clearly aren't what the thread originator asked for? |
![]() ![]() ![]() Posted Fri Dec 7, 2007 3:55AM | I updated the guidelines, and did a little housekeeping. Please sitemail me if you see any other request spam. |

Add "COMPLETED" to the thread title, by editing your original post, once your request has been delivered, (or "In Progress", "Ongoing" and "Renewed"). This rule seems pretty important to me... and I get the feeling that a lot of 'requesters' do not take it very seriously... Which is not very smart, cause people will think twice to respond to a request of them again, if they do not respond. Specifficly when people make new photo's xtra for them... |
![]() Posted Sun May 18, 2008 9:50AM | it would be nice in the new forums.. if the op could or must set a expire date (deadline) on threads when the thread is created... then the thread auto locks when it expires. |
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Posted Mon Jul 28, 2008 12:25AM | Maybe would help the search if everyone would start each post with the kind of request... like it's happening in the Critic request forum. PHOTO: your title here VECTOR: your title here VIDEO: your title here AUDIO: your title here |

I personally found them really irritating... and I wasn't even a buyer! |
![]() Posted Fri Aug 7, 2009 3:39AM | It is really funny to see threads like this "looking for cool photos of nature" - started on 12th of March 2008 (Last year!) and people still posting images there and bumping it up! I believe that there must be rules not only for the contributors but for the requesters as well. And I really mean "Rules" and not reccomendations. I believe that one of the rules must be to update your initial posting (and eventually the thread heading) at least once every month. If the requester is not doing this, he/she obviously just does not care about the thread anymore and it should be locked. Seems that this is turning into pure pimping forum. |
![]() ![]() Posted Thu Aug 13, 2009 2:28AM | I agree Koruin, I think the thread you mentioned is totally out of date, the OP's website is about display, power and protection products ?? I could be wrong but I think they've forgotten it's there ?? Same could be said for "landscape images for keywords" Feb 2008 !?!?!? (Edited on 2009-08-13 02:42:42 by dmax269) |
Posted Mon Oct 4, 2010 3:44PM | What if you have an istock photo but you cannot located on the site. Such as when a client sends you a brochure with photos, with istock watermarks, that they want but they have discarded the originals but need you to find them. Sometimes searching does not give the correct results. Where could I ask to see if someone has seen the image or knows where it could be found on the site? |

Another way to find the images is to put them online somewhere (scan them or photograph them if not already on the web) and then use TinEye to reverse-search for them. iStock indexes the photos and images on the site so they will usually come up. http://www.tineye.com/ |
