On the front page from time to time I see free download of images. Who decides what images are free to download - is it Istock or the photographer?

The photographer volunteers the image(s) and then iStock decides which to offer.

Hi, there's a free DL every week and it's chosen by iStock from a selection of those specially offered by contributors. It's a nice promotional gift and of course the chosen artist gets the benefit of added exposure. smile

Can the Free Image of the Week be a vector illustration, or is it strictly pixel images? Just curious. Thanks!

I think there's been vectors in the past.

Greetings, Omentum ; yes the FIOTW can indeed be a vector, at times... and will.

It's amazing how things are scattered around Istockphoto.

"How do I learn about the free image of the week?"

At a specific photographer's blog, of course! Where else could it possibly be!?

No wonder the forums are so busy...
