pay them/don't live in the US |
Posted Fri Aug 31, 2007 7:08PM | The latter choice is starting to sound really appealing. |
Posted Fri Aug 31, 2007 8:51PM | I just join istock. I was thinking myself how tax works on here. Do you actually have to play taxes since it's online. Anyways, I wouldn't count on doing freelancing or istockphoto as a full-time job. |

Posted Fri Aug 31, 2007 9:46PM | "quiting" ? Just don't become an English teacher.
There's no sales tax in Oregon and no state income tax in Washington.
Do you actually have to play taxes since it's online.
I wouldn't try that excuse on the IRS |

Try Swisse or Montecarlo.

Of course you have to pay them. |
Posted Sat Sep 1, 2007 10:09AM | Good luck to you! I did the same 15 years ago, quit a corporate job and have been freelance ever since. The freedom is great, but I have a husband who is the main bread winner. I would never go back to a corporate job, yuck!
Calif. is expensive, I live in OC, crazy!!!!!!! Maybe try Northern Calif, property is a little cheaper, you could surf Mavericks |
            Posted Sat Sep 1, 2007 12:18PM | Congrats!!! |

Congrats on taking the leap.
I've been working independently since 1984 (after 6 months at a regular job). My wife and I work together (since 1989). For us it was the right decision, although we could make more money and have less paperwork to deal with in a corporate job. Yeah, taxes and healthcare are a pain. But we like the odd little world we've built for ourselves.
(I'm not sure it's much cheaper here in Northern Calif. But I love the scenery. ) |
Posted Sat Sep 1, 2007 9:34PM | Texas has no state income tax, but I wouldn't recommend it unless you like trucks, country music, smoking and super-sizing everything (I really mean EVERYTHING!). Wouldn't know about the surfing thing. I live near a lake, and all we have is fishing and water skiing. Personally, I'm not found of the part of Texas I'm in (if you couldn't tell). |
