Thanks Neil Welcome to istock! You'll do better asking in the Discussion forum. But first take a look at this post: http://www.istockphoto.com/forum_messages.php?threadid=346625&messageid=6731921 It's probably got the information you're looking for. |
![]() ![]() Posted Sat Jan 19 6:42PM | Posted By anchev: Posted By FrankyDeMeyer: Posted By anchev: Hi Franky, A fellow contributor asked about keyword outsourcing and I forwarded him here. But I am interested too: if the keyworder is someone else, how does the whole thing work. Should I upload through the site in unfinished state and then he would hit F5 in his DM version if he does only the keywording? I have an article on the credential encryption feature you could use. This allows another person (keyworder) to upload and keyword files on your behalf, without needing your iStock credentials. Let me know if this would solve your problem. Thanks. Thanks for the link. It is not an actual problem. I just need to know how it works if the keyworder is not supposed to upload the image but only to describe it, i.e. no to have access to the full size JPG. Is that possible at all? I'm a bit confused. Are you saying now, that two different computers can run DeepMeta? They just can't be on there at the same time? |
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Posted Sun Jan 20 10:07AM | Sorry for the confusion. There are 2 possibilities: 1. Local sharing You have 2 or more computers locally (on the same LAN) that you wish to use to run DeepMeta. In that case, you could move the data files of the DeepMeta software to a central computer on the LAN (e.g. a system that is always running), and then use DeepMeta from another computer, pointing to to a share, mapped as a drive (e.g. //ourHomeServer/DM mapped as drive z I don't like to make a lot of comments on this system, as I don't have much experience how well this works, and mostly: it does require some PC/Network knowledge to make sure access rights are OK and similar. I don't really want may inexperienced users dive into this, as they might mess up Info 2. Encrypted password sharing This is for users who have someone do keywording for them. The keyworder also installs DeepMeta on their own system, and you give them an encrypted version of your iStock credentials. Either you do the uploading and they do the keywording, or you let them do it all. The advantage is that they can't login to the iStock site and do things you don't want. If you don't want to trust them with the original upload files, it gets a bit tricky: you do the uploads with DeepMeta, but then they always go in the queue straight away. You'd have to enter some bogus keywords to get the upload accepted, and then hope that inspectors don't inspect the files before your keyworder gets the job done. This seems like a gamble to me, so I think this system is only usable in practice, for users who can trust the original file uploads to their keyworders as well. Info Let me know if there are still things unclear. It's not an easy subject. |
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Posted Sun Jan 20 10:10AM | ATTENTION: I have just found out that any messages that were sent to me through the DeepMeta website "Contact form", between nov 14, 2012 and jan 12, 2013 did not reach me. This was due to a technical issue with the site. I'm very sorry if I have missed any support queries of that period (and I surely have). I make it a point to reply to all messages and forum posts, so this is a big issue to me. Again my apologies. The issue has been resolved now. You can always reach me directly at my email address: "fdm at eazign dot be". Thanks |

Btw, do you have any idea or have you heard how much photographers are paying for each image keyworded? |

I do know that there were quite a few requests for this feature at the time, so it must be a popular strategy to "outsource" keywording. Great way to maximize some quality time for photography to yourself. |

It could be that the installation of your DeepMeta software got damaged somehow. You could try an uninstall and reinstall (through "Controle panel", "Programs and features"). Make sure DeepMeta is not running while you do this. Let me know if this solves it. Good luck. |

For what it's worth, mine match exactly. You're sure there's nothing in the DM filter box? That's the most obvious way to get different numbers...but probably obvious enough that you've already checked. Does the "items shown" count (to the right of the filter box and buttons) match your portfolio count? |

I'll put it on my list. Well, I went into the code to fix this, only to see it automatically chooses the year of the current date as the maximum. This means you should be able to select 2013 without problem. Don't you just love fixing things by just realizing you already pre-fixed it earlier |
![]() ![]() ![]() Posted Mon Feb 4 5:36PM | Hi Franky, Would it be possible to allow Right-Click > Fetch on inactive files. If, for example, a file is rejected and I resubmit it, I'd like to be able to Right-Click on that specific file to update its status. As is, I have to do a full Fetch to get the update for that one file. Thank you, especially if it's possible and you'll do it Mike |
