Thanks, Hudson (and Lauren) Whatever you're all doing, just keep doing it!
Tadej, I'm guessing you won't be near me (near Monetlimar) if you're skiing but, as Dan said about Ontario, let me know if you're near enough to drop in.

I can't find Monetlimar on the map. Did you mean Montelimar? |
   Posted Thu Feb 14 4:31AM | woops - yes, Montelimar - sorry! |

I won't be that far, probably only around 150km (straight line), but no time for a visit this time. I thought you were more to the west. If I plan any trip to France, it'll include Montelimar. |

Jean, free is good. Now we need to get all those people to buy Bladesong.
Poor Tadej. Skiing in Italy instead of France. Try skiing in Vermont sometime. Ice is the norm, but we also do rain, wind chills of -60 to -80 (once went skiing with -100 F wind chill. They wouldn't let you on the lift if you had any exposed skin. Passed out blankets for the lift ride. One run and inside for me), rocks, crowds, and fog. The good thing is that if you can ski in Eastern USA, everywhere else seems like paradise. |

You're doing it wrong then |
Posted Thu Feb 14 7:33AM | Wow, that turd cart looks lovely!! |
   Posted Thu Feb 14 8:14AM | ^ funny, guys
Tadej, it's a deal. We actually live in Dieulefit, 30 minutes east of Montelimar.
That's the plan, Jonathan but people will have to a) read the book and b) want to read the second. Then I'll have to get on with the third (am researching this year) Slower today so far but still ticking over nicely and 'Song at Dawn' has reached No 8 on the Bestsellers/Historical/Free Chart on .com and No 6 on .co.uk which is BRILLIANT.

Doh! I think I have just fallen into the spiralling upgrade trap. Sony a37 RAW files not supported by Lightroom 3, Lightroom 4.3 not supported on Windows XP - Windows 7 probably not supported by my PC argggggggggg
Really hacked off with Adobe, they really are rip off merchants, forcing upgrades due to not supporting anything over a year old!!
Does the a37 shoot DNG Raw? If it does you don't need to upgrade anything.
No Dave, it shoots in ARW but a newer version than on my A350. The consequence is that Lightroom (and Elements 9 I have discovered) won't recognize the files and won't import or convert to DNG. I have a RAW converter that came with the body and could use the Adobe RAW converter as others suggested but it all slows the workflow, which is what was allowing me to upload at a much faster rate.
I refuse to spend another £60 on Lightroom then further on Windows 7 and Elements 11 at the moment maybe I will just wait for Lightroom 5 and Elements 12 before buying Lightroom 4 and Elements 11 discounted!! In the meantime I have just used the jpegs (I always shoot RAW+) for the time being and will see how many get rejected!

Or just use Adobe DNG converter, it's free from Adobe.
Top tip, thanks. I have just downloaded and am curently converting all .ARW files to .DNG compatible with my versions of Adobe products. Still a pain but a less expensive pain. |
Posted Thu Feb 14 11:44AM | Glad it helps. It's a useful bit of software to have. A bit slow if you are converting everything but a useful stopgap until you are ready to splash the cash again on more Adobe stuff but there is the cloud option now. I really like the newer versions of ACR in LR & PS with the built lens/camera corrections for CA and suchlike |
Posted Thu Feb 14 11:59AM | I have got Adobe Cloud but I only think it is an option if you are using one or more programs and you are vat registered. For me it is £38.11 a month for every thing in the Master Collection (and a bit more). |
Posted Thu Feb 14 12:54PM | You could live in Australia where buying each Adobe product is twice as expensive as in the US. You could get on a plane and fly to the US buy Adobe Master collection and fly back and still be $600 better off. |

Thanks for your help guys, I have just uploaded a batch of Dalmatian shots which I might share if they get accepted. The Adobe converter is slow but seems to have done the trick, now ahve a batch of .dng files ready for lightroom. I am sorry about whingeing on extra expense when I hear about the Aussie pricing - sounds like a nightmare.
Also took some heart shaped candle shots and sparkling wine shots tonight, Valentines night divorce coming up!!

No dls for a week for me, and I too pay Aussie prices for Adobe products. I'm interested to see how the alternative works out this year. |

Posted Fri Feb 15 6:48AM | For me it is just the "usual" markets beeing accepted. This freshly pressed orange juice is really good! (Expectation of composition is different for editorials.)
