I have eight waiting.  This is a problem that is now only good enough for the bugs thread rather than having its own thread.  It has also been going on a while too.

If anyone is interested in/using Nik software, then check this post. I must say I use it a lot, because it makes things so simple and effective.

I had only ever purchased Silver Efex to play around with some B&W stuff. Haven't used extensively but I also got the email which gave me a free upgrade to the whole package. Seemed too good to be true but a little web surfing seemed to confirm that it was legitimate so I hesitantly clicked the download button in the email and just installed. Still working on the house so no time to play with it yet but it was a nice freebie. (but the cynical side of me now suspects that Google has an alterior motive.)

Tadej, what do you use most often? Are the filters good enough to get through inspection?

There is an article here that talks about Nik Software. When I'm using it for stock I turn it down to about 80% at the final stage when I am ready to merge the "Nik Software" layer and my background, obviously that only applies to the color filters.....

Black and white wise I have been doing some fairly extreme conversions with no problems at all. I think it's a case of experimenting a bit and getting a few rejections until you find the limits.

Imho the newer the camera/chip you have the more punishment it can take filter wise and maybe the standards have been altered a bit to allow for more colorful interpretations that you get with Instagram type effects that some images and buyers seem to like.

I'm not Tadej but most stuff gets through inspection - the exceptions being when you do too much to Editorial. I use Color Efex mostly - Lighten/Darken center and Pro Contrast is great for adding selective sharpening by use of masks. The bi-color filters are great for landscapes - try dropping the opacity before merging the final image. I'd recommend you watch some of the video tutorials on both the Nik site and on Youtube as that gives you insights you'd probably never work out for yourself (well I wpouldn't anyway).

Silver Efex is great for B&W - and the inspectors seem to love it (JJRD does).

I have a few stuck sub sales too which haven't paid out yet.  I was kind of hoping they'd get unstuck before 1st April, because 31st March is end of my tax/accounting year and it would just make things tidier if I was paid for sales in the year the files were downloaded!  I daren't ask again either, which is daft really.  Being nervous about asking where something you're owed has got to!

I mostly use Viveza and Tonal contrast from Color efex. I also use Dfine to reduce noise, which I then usually mask to the needed areas. If you denoise first and then use other filters, there's no problem with inspection unless you go too far. Just check for noise/artefacts before submitting. I was thinking of buying Viveza & Color efex, but the price was too high before. So today I've legalized them

Live and learn. Just read the posts on New Forum Layout with some interting dicussions about PTOTW. Did you know that contributors views don't count? That is what LOBO says so I guess it is true. Good to know that pimping an image in PTOTW or otherwie in the forums does not compromize it in the BM (if views are important as we all believe)

Another sunny but cold day in Sweden. On my way to visit my sister, she lives just about 2 hours journey from here.

Had tried Silver Efex but never got around to buy it. Now got inspired to buy the entire collection but ran into a bug. Everything worked nicely with promotion codeds until I came to paying. Tried first with creditcard(s) but the cars numbers were not acceptedm so I used PayPal - well that worked all the way but in the end I gor an error message, just "an error occured". Now PayPal had deducted the money but Nik has not given me any codes to download. Will have to go to customers support I guess.

Uncle Ebb here for a long weekend and arrived early!

Shame as a couple of downloads on Thurs or Friday would have given me 2nd BME for $.  At least I got this one accepted including blue filter, expected over filter rejection on recent performance  It also seems to be that the more aesthetically pleasing I find an image the more likely it is to be rejected on technical issues.

file_thumbview_approve

On a technical front I have recently started using Lightroom 3 to remove Chromatic Aberration, I was using the lens correction but read something about manual and using this and the red/cyan slider and blue slider works a treat, I don't expect to have another CA rejection!!! Now if I can only suss out lighting...............

Keep shooting Heidi!

I just updated my stats. I've just had my best week since the first week of Nov... and that week was a fluke week. Also this will be my Best month of the year and adding GI sales it's a really good month. Historically speaking March was always one of my best months of the year, except last year. I'm hoping this might be a return of better days. Hope, hope, hope!

Happy Easter everyone!

Just bought myself an Easter present!  The 100mm f/2.8L Macro IS.  I decided if my 5DMkII ever packed up I wouldn't use my 40D as back-up because I couldn't cope with having to drop back to 10MP.  So I may as well trade it in and I got a really good deal, I think.  I was also going to trade in my 70-300mm f/4-5.6 IS USM because, when I got the 5DMkII I was told it wouldn't work with a full frame camera.  Apparently, I was wrongly advised and it will.  So I brought it back home with me and now feel like I've actually got two new lenses to play with.  Which is kind of bizarre, seeing as I had the 70-300 in my kit bag all along.  Doh!!

An Easter present Paula, now there's an idea. Those macro lenses are great, mine is a 90mm Tamron, and great for portraits too.

I've been engaging in a little nostalgia, and really enjoyed reading through this thread. Good times.
