I'm having a hard time listening through the watermark. It makes it difficult to get the real gist of the audio. Is anyone looking into a better solution?
Don't get me wrong, when I submit material, I want it protected...but I also want someone to hear through the clutter of the watermark. It seems like it could be a real distraction. Enough so that no one even uses iStockAudio.
Thoughts?

Maybe it would be a soft female voice "iStockAudio"..."copyrighted sound sample"...lower then the original sound. something like that. |
Posted Fri May 16, 2008 11:24AM | Please, please, please, don't chose a watermark that has a pitch to it! The current watermark is really distracting, and actually fits in with some of the samples uploaded, which totally changes how the user experiences the preview. It's standard practice to use a soft voice that says "iStockAudio" or similar, as suggested.
That way the clip can be easily identified if stolen, and it doesn't overpower the original audio.
Glad to hear that it's being reworked. |

I agree 100%. A watermark that is musical will completely overwhelm the music that is being played ... it should be very clear that it's a watermark and not something that could confuse the buyers. |

Posted Fri May 16, 2008 4:29PM | In some sound libraries, watermarking on preview, is simply a downgraded version of the file, like a very low bitrate mp3 , presence of hiss or noise (white noise covers all the frequencies so it's impossible to remove).
Customers knows that paying will allow access the high quality version of the file.
Anyway, a (female) voice telling "istockaudio" every few seconds could be the best solution. |
Posted Fri May 16, 2008 7:19PM | I'm not sure if the new watermark that's on its way is the current one but the watermark just about blew out my laptop speakers it was so loud and when I turned it down I could barely hear the actual file |
