With the exception of one clip, I can't hear any of the "latest uploads". Firefox, Safari, makes no difference. Even if I open them in Quicktime or another player, they just don't seem to be there as playable files. Anyone else getting this?

Yep, they're working on some issues with the audio sample file conversions. Looks like nothing is being reviewed for the past couple of days while they work out the problems.

Right, we are working on the problem, and it is taking a bit to sort it out. We still will be inspecting, and accepting applications; once the preview problem is sorted out we will be able to re-process any files with problems.

Well, I'm glad it's not just me who can't play them, but at the same time I can't help wondering what prospective buyers will be thinking. As the Audio link in the menu can't really be disabled now it's gone live, wouldn't it be wise to change it to "Audio - Coming Soon"?

Also I think it's a good idea to link to member's portfolio from "latest uploads" section. Now I can't find any link to hear other examples

thanks,

K.

Seems to me if it's not fully functional it shouldn't be up on the site. All you're doing is giving the visitor a frustrating experience and making us look like the not-yet-ready-for-primetime-players.

Thanks for the input. Appreciate this feature hasn't launched fully so there will be some uncomfortable moments from time to time. As the release mentions we are only ingesting content at this time. The forward facing functionality will not be fully operational. If you are attempting to upload content and you are experiencing problems please let us know. If you are looking to preview the work have patience, we aren't at that point yet.

True. iStock should put "In Progress" warning signs everywhere. I would rework "Sound lives here banner" to add text stating current situation.

Lobo, I think many of us are trying to figure out why the non-functioning components are live if they are in beta, and/or don't work, and selling won't commence for months. It just looks poor and annoys all who try to click about and haven't read all the forums yet. Which I'm guessing would be, oh, about 75% of the folks who are poking around Audio section.

Yep, and again, thanks for the input.

We are currently accepting your application samples. Looking forward to reviewing your contributions.

The next few months will be concerned with gathering content. We appreciate everyone is keen to try out all the bells and whistles but we aren't providing them yet. So, if you are interested in getting into the Audio side of contributor-hood upload some samples. If you are window shopping please wait for the full launch.

Ok, got it. Anything originally shorter than 30 seconds won't play in preview.

okay.. I was wondering why I couldn't hear a lot of the samples.

When can we start downloading sounds? I dont see anything that says when sales will start? Or am I just to dumb to figure out how to get to an audio file download page?

ETA... every preview on the main page that work (the ones that play) have the same "clunk clunk" sound in them.. I'm not a muscian so I'm not sure how to describe it..but am I to assume that is all part of the problem with the previewing? could it just be my setup that hears it? (using Firefox on Mac OSX)

I think the "clunk clunk" sound you're hearing is the audio watermark...By the way great description

I believe they are also working on the sound of the watermark as well.
