Makes it really hard to get into a sound as it's extremely annoying, even for judgement, isn't there other solutions for previewing sound?

A nice voiceover saying "iStock Photo' would sound good - people would know it's a water mark then.  Right now I think people might get confused and think they have iTunes playing another song at the same time.

It's still in testing phase anyway - all this will be fixed before any of the songs are available for download.

I think somebody who's somebody said somewhere they were working on an updated one--

I think either white noise or a soft spoken voice would be best

I disagree about white noise because it could damage speakers and ears on relatively high volume.

Words or beeps IMO

I want to put in my 2 cents worth on prior suggestions by several people that we need more than a 30-sec sample. If I were planning to buy something, I'd want to hear the beginning, the end, and everything in between to see if it's really what I want -- otherwise it's a crap shoot.  Also, if I upload a file that contains multiple-length versions of a music piece (10, 15, 20, 30, 60 secs) I'd want the potential buyers to be able to hear all the various versions to understand the value that they are getting.

Maybe you could have the standard 30-sec sample and also a link to a full-length sample as well for those who want to hear more before buying?

Please add this to the list of input that you appreciate from us.

True. But it is so annoying that it deserves to be slapped every hour of a day.

I just heard some of the clips... I see what you guys mean. At first I wasn't sure what was the clip and what was the added noise. I figured it out pretty quick.

Not sure if there's an issue, but I can't get all the clips to produce a sample for me. I used the Newest Audio Uploads list on the audio page and only the first few would play for me. In fact the only once that played for me were the ones by Decard. The others didn't do anything.

Yeah, nor do they do anything here too… and the bling-bloing must go - absolutely! I agree with the last three posts in totality. Voice-over will work better, and longer samples make sense too, especially for clients interested in stuff that will work as soundtrack material.

I noticed that samples shorter than 30 seconds (original length) do not have preview.

How about 96mbit mp3 compression? It's good enough to get a feel for the sound/track? Does it really need a watermark when it's just a part that you're previewing?

fredrikpj you the man I would much rather hear a low-fi sample without a watermark. that way there's no distraction from the "vibe" of the music. If you must use a watermark please make it percussive or spoken and non-tonal.

Hold on to your pants everyone... The new watermarks have been created, they will be implemented in a week or two. We hear your heavy distain for the current watermark and have acted....

All old files will also be reprocessed with the new watermarks

So keep holding on to those pants...

I also agree 100% on this suggestion. For those of us uploading songs / full compositions, a 30 second clip of the intro doesn't give the buyer any about how the song develops. One of my uploads starts out with a campfire and slide guitar but most of the track ends being a disco sort of wah-guitar song.

I too agree with the above.  We should be able to sample the full length composition, don't care if there is a watermark all throughout it is much more important to hear the full piece.

It is Very Important to hear the whole piece not just a 30 second clip!  iStock needs to fix this before the service launches to consumers.
