I'm going to be in and around Anchorage this July and will find myself with a little free time to myself. Alaska has long been on my list of places to visit and I'm thrilled to be finally going! Anyone have any must-see must-do tips for Anchorage?

THE ENTIRE MONTH OF JULY!

You guys have to see this show. I saw it in Canmore and I'd see it again and again. It was way better than Cats.

I haven't been to Anchorage, but have some 'northern town' experience. You'll see it all, do some of it and come away with an interesting perspective on living removed from the south.

Do dine on the freshest seafood, go see some bears and enjoy the scenics ... my first reaction to arriving in a smaller town 'north' of here that I was moving to years ago, was to keep driving ... surely there was 'more' to it (the town) ... NOPE, that was it. Turned the car around and tried to get my head around it.

Yeah, two words...GRIZZLY MAN. Timothy Treadwell tapped a 1,300lb grizzly on the nose for beind grouchy...that should get you some wrastlin' Rob! Of course, he was eventually eaten by wild bears. Have a great trip. Alaska is on my list too.

Check out the Alaskan Railroad.

They offer amazing views of Denali and lots of areas you might not otherwise see by car. You'll cover a lot of area in a single day. They depart from Anchorage.

You can always drive up the scenic Glen Hwy 1.

I'll be spending a day at Brooks Falls which I don't think is too far (relatively speaking for Alaska) from their campsite. *shudder*
