There is a change in the new web page layout: the lower part has moved much more down, see here: http://www.dot.cz/FTP/Picture3.jpg It means that it's more difficult to notice promoted lightbox. Many people don't scroll so down or they don't have their browser window large enough to see it... I don't have any statistics for it but I think it has definitely a bad influence for photographers who organize their photos into lightboxes and have large portfolio or photos with many visitors. Less visitors = less sales

I think we will end up losing out on related images sales now.

not so sure myself, am still getting good traffic in my private related-images LB's. (not sure because i don't know if i'd have better traffic otherwise)

The description was too low even before they redid the layout. I think all the buying stuff should go either under the descriptions or to the side where the keywords are and move the keywords to the bottom.

I've tried to squeeze a bit to get less blank space to get banner up. Also sent to iS as suggestion (left suggested, right real):

ETA: also added eye leading lines in size table.

good point.  except for the wikis, the keywords doesn't have to be prominently displayed.  i doubt if the buyer would check what the keywords are once the image has come up in the search results.

i've noticed a drop in traffic through my private lightboxes since the changes a while back, even though I've noticed a little bit of an increse in views overall

Some simple statistics: I created a lightbox with 26 photos approx 3 weeks ago, all the photos have 593 visits but the lightbox itself only 7.... ;(

Looks great, and fits perfectly. But I would swap the photographer's description with the buying stuff.

Keep the purchasing information as close to the image as possible, please... I would rather have a person who is ready to buy my image have easy access to the tools they need to purchase it than have to futz around trying to find where to buy it.

No offense, Nicolesy... I see that you are offering up a solution and kudos for that but I find all the added extra images off to the side to be very distracting from the shot that is for sale.

probably the purchasing part directly on the right side of the image, where file info and keywords used to be. those are the things that one sees by default without scrolling (assuming the wide, as opposed to vertically long, browser windows, are still most common). description directly below the image, as per conventional use, the rest can be interchangeable.

I'd like to see some space compression as well.

Despite what Microsoft ties to convince us of with their Ribbon in Office, most of us still use the screen in horizontal orientation, so it would make sence for iStock to use more of that horizontal space.

That would be a much improved layout. I hope TPTB are paying attention.

I'd just like to echo the plea here to move up descriptions.  It takes a lot of time to make these lightboxes and it's potentialy very helpful to our customers so it would be great if there was a higher chance of our links getting seen!

I was just having fun with it ... wanted to see for myself what it could look like, so then I just posted it here.  Kinda have to agree with you too! ... the image should be the thing that stands out in the page.  If iStock ever changes things, I'm sure that it will be done well.

As a buyer I've found that the private lighboxes a great service to find series or images with a similar style to fit in a publication as this is difficult to find using the search or browsing into the files of a protfolio.

As a contributor I've found that the private lightboxes are a great way to promote and sell specialized areas of the portfolio and with the new layout they are difficult to see.
