I'll be hosting a photo walk on August 23 (sat) from 5-7 pm followed by dinner at the Portsmouth Brewery as part of World Wide Photo Walk Day. Besides a fun walk around town there are also prizes being offered. It would be great to see some iStockers on my home turf!

You are making me homesick again - of course I just went back to visit family in MA and NH - we just didn't make it to Portsmouth - it sounds like a lot of fun though !  Take some behind the scenes photos to post - and if you go by Pocos have a margarita for me !

Having grown up in NH I can tell you Portsmouth is one of the most beautiful places on the east coast. If you're in the area don't miss this opportunity to shoot a classic New England seaport town. Good food, good people and decent art culture. Plus you'll get to hang with Rob, an istock icon. Too bad I'm now on the west coast... Have a ball!

Mike, that's awesome! Go here and register. I'm betting they'll send out a reminder, plus I think that's how you'll be eligible for the prizes. I didn't realize you were in Nottingham! Back in the day I taught at the school. Now, I'm just over the Epping town line in Newmarket.

Support there completed the registration for me. I am curious (and perhaps I should ask them) but should I see more information on that page -- such as who the participants are, etc.?

As far as I know ... no. I can see the participants when I log into the leader page, but I can't see any of the participants on the other walks. You'll have to ask them as to why.

You know I seriously considered doing just that Rob - I would love a chance to roam around with you. But HOPEFULLY I will still be in that little Steel Cage match and if I manage to get that far I have the sense I am going to really need those two hours... Besides I'm 2 plus hours from Montpeiier as it is...

Hey Rob, thanks for letting us know about this! I checked Baltimore and both walks in DC and they are all full. Portsmouth is probably too much of a drive for one day, but Norfolk might be doable . . .

Quick question: Does the "Terms and Conditions of Use" agreement* preclude exclusives from submitting their photos for competition for the prizes. (I'd still do the walk; just wanted to clarify . . . not that I think I'd win a prize. )

* a) One (1) year usage rights and permissions to use, re-use, publish, and re-publish your winning image(s) you created, or reproduction hereof in color or otherwise, made through any and all media now or hereafter known for illustration, art, promotion, advertising, trade, or any other purpose whatsoever.

I'll try and get an official ruling, but my unofficial opinion is that unlike a lot of contests, this one is pretty narrowly stipulating the amount of time they are asking to be able to use the images, and I know that it is simply a CYA arrangement so that they can use them in promotional related uses specific to this contest.

We should all be wary about contests that stipulate a lifetime royalty free license in exchange for entry. This is more like a form of a right's managed arrangement. You know who will use it and for how long in exchange for entry into the contest. Big difference.

That said, anyone can participate in the walk without having to contribute images. So, if you feel uncomfortable about that wording, just show up for the social time with peers shoot for your self and have fun. The prizes are just icing on the cake for a few folks anyway.

Wow, this sounds like a really fun idea... I may sign up too as there are actually some planned in my neighborhoods, though I would much prefer New Hampshire

I still don't see your name listed as a registered person for that event. Can you send them another email and make sure they didn't put you on the morning Portsmouth walk?
