![]() ![]() ![]() Posted Tue Aug 5, 2008 8:36AM | I'll be hosting a photo walk on August 23 (sat) from 5-7 pm followed by dinner at the Portsmouth Brewery as part of World Wide Photo Walk Day. Besides a fun walk around town there are also prizes being offered. It would be great to see some iStockers on my home turf! |
![]() ![]() Posted Tue Aug 5, 2008 8:54AM | You are making me homesick again - of course I just went back to visit family in MA and NH - we just didn't make it to Portsmouth - it sounds like a lot of fun though ! Take some behind the scenes photos to post - and if you go by Pocos have a margarita for me ! |
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Posted Tue Aug 5, 2008 9:12AM | Having grown up in NH I can tell you Portsmouth is one of the most beautiful places on the east coast. If you're in the area don't miss this opportunity to shoot a classic New England seaport town. Good food, good people and decent art culture. Plus you'll get to hang with Rob, an istock icon. Too bad I'm now on the west coast... Have a ball! |
![]() ![]() ![]() Posted Tue Aug 5, 2008 9:23AM | Cool, Sylvanworks, I didn't know you were local. Count me in. Just gotta keep myself reminded of this. Have subscribed to this thread. Mike |
![]() ![]() ![]() Posted Tue Aug 5, 2008 9:40AM | How could you people ever move away from here??? Mike, that's awesome! Go here and register. I'm betting they'll send out a reminder, plus I think that's how you'll be eligible for the prizes. I didn't realize you were in Nottingham! Back in the day I taught at the school. ![]() ![]() ![]() Posted Tue Aug 5, 2008 10:04AM | I registered and am waiting for the confirmation email... seems to take a while from that site. Mike |
![]() ![]() ![]() Posted Tue Aug 5, 2008 3:31PM | Support there completed the registration for me. I am curious (and perhaps I should ask them) but should I see more information on that page -- such as who the participants are, etc.? Thanks. Mike |
![]() ![]() ![]() Posted Tue Aug 5, 2008 4:01PM | As far as I know ... no. I can see the participants when I log into the leader page, but I can't see any of the participants on the other walks. You'll have to ask them as to why. |
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Posted Tue Aug 5, 2008 4:17PM | I just registered for Montpelier, VT...sounds like a ton of fun... |
![]() ![]() ![]() Posted Tue Aug 5, 2008 4:26PM | Awww ... drive another 2 hours and come to the coast. |
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Posted Tue Aug 5, 2008 4:34PM | You know I seriously considered doing just that Rob - I would love a chance to roam around with you. But HOPEFULLY I will still be in that little Steel Cage match and if I manage to get that far I have the sense I am going to really need those two hours... (Edited on 2008-08-05 16:43:13 by cglade) |
![]() ![]() Posted Tue Aug 5, 2008 4:51PM | Hey Rob, thanks for letting us know about this! I checked Baltimore and both walks in DC and they are all full. Portsmouth is probably too much of a drive for one day, but Norfolk might be doable . . . |
![]() ![]() Posted Tue Aug 5, 2008 5:23PM | Quick question: Does the "Terms and Conditions of Use" agreement* preclude exclusives from submitting their photos for competition for the prizes. (I'd still do the walk; just wanted to clarify . . . not that I think I'd win a prize. * a) One (1) year usage rights and permissions to use, re-use, publish, and re-publish your winning image(s) you created, or reproduction hereof in color or otherwise, made through any and all media now or hereafter known for illustration, art, promotion, advertising, trade, or any other purpose whatsoever. |
![]() ![]() ![]() Posted Tue Aug 5, 2008 6:38PM | I'll try and get an official ruling, but my unofficial opinion is that unlike a lot of contests, this one is pretty narrowly stipulating the amount of time they are asking to be able to use the images, and I know that it is simply a CYA arrangement so that they can use them in promotional related uses specific to this contest. We should all be wary about contests that stipulate a lifetime royalty free license in exchange for entry. This is more like a form of a right's managed arrangement. You know who will use it and for how long in exchange for entry into the contest. Big difference. That said, anyone can participate in the walk without having to contribute images. So, if you feel uncomfortable about that wording, just show up for the social time with peers shoot for your self and have fun. The prizes are just icing on the cake for a few folks anyway. |
![]() ![]() Posted Wed Aug 6, 2008 12:32PM | Thanks, Rob. I did sign up yesterday (for Norfolk). It sounds like a lot of fun! |
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Posted Wed Aug 6, 2008 4:04PM | Wow, this sounds like a really fun idea... I may sign up too as there are actually some planned in my neighborhoods, though I would much prefer New Hampshire |
![]() ![]() ![]() Posted Wed Aug 6, 2008 4:26PM | Posted By PinkTag: I would much prefer New Hampshire Well said. I understand completely Mike |

Mike I still don't see your name listed as a registered person for that event. Can you send them another email and make sure they didn't put you on the morning Portsmouth walk? |
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Posted Wed Aug 6, 2008 7:04PM | Hey Rob, Keith from Londonderry here, up until a few moments ago I had nothing to do on August 23rd. I've just registered for the evening walk you are hosting and looking forward to it. I don't suppose you've got Scott Kelby showing up for a surprise do you? also thanks Mike for the heads up on this. |
![]() ![]() ![]() Posted Wed Aug 6, 2008 7:43PM | Hey Keith, welcome aboard! Well no one would be more surprised than me if Scott showed up. |
