Queen City Lypse--Charlotte, North Carolina March 6/7 2009!!!

It’s finally here! The news about the fabulous upcoming Queen City Lypse—in Charlotte, North Carolina.
This awesome Lypse will combine the best of studio, location and themed shooting. We’ll spend one day at Black Box Studio (http://www.blackboxstudios.net/). Other locations include:

• modern veterinary clinic--confirmed
• cool coffee shop--confirmed
• acupuncturist clinic--confirmed
• traditional college campus--no permission granted
• modern dentist office--unable--dentist will be out of town. He's very disappointed (it's his wife's reunion).
• downtown Charlotte
* Belmont Park--doing it!
• U.S. National Whitewater Center (http://www.usnwc.org/)

All of these locations are within miles of each other, and we’ll schedule some for morning and evening, and some indoors for the middle of the day.

Cost: $275

Dates: March 6 and 7

Location: Most of the locations are in Belmont, North Carolina, which is just outside (15 minutes) downtown Charlotte. There will be more information soon about hotels in the area.

Deadlines: $175 is due to Lisa Marzano at PayPal: scoutgirl7@gmail.com by January 5. The balance is due by February 9.
This is limited to twelve (12) iStock photographers. All royalty-free photos from this event can only be placed on iStock. You do not have to be an exclusive to come, but you must use the photos exclusively on iStock for royalty-free images.

No refunds after February 10, unless there is another person to take your spot.

Update: I have someone to do hair and make up, and she'll also be a great model. I'll be working on models starting next week. I'm meeting with the studio owner tomorrow to look at set up.

HOTEL UPDATE
Let's make the Holiday Inn Express the "hotel of choice." Though I haven't seen the agreement yet, they've said they'll hold about 5 rooms for us at $85.99 a night. They have a hot breakfast and also have a meeting room. I'm guessing I can get them to just give us all breakfast and we can meet there in the morning--more to come on that.

1/13/09: OKAY! You can make your reservations. It should be $85.99 a night. The group is iStockPhoto. They also have a shuttle to/from the airport for $5 each way. We also have a meeting room for 7:00AM each morning that includes a hot breakfast for all. Here's the phone number: 704-812-2000.

What are we going to do for models? Are we looking for them in the Charlotte area? I'll volunteer my services for model releases to take that stress off you Lisa, but I don't have any access to models in that area... although, I MIGHT have 2 friends that could come model for us (key word: MIGHT).

HI there. Let's talk after the first of the year about finding models. We only use iStock releases--I think those are coming in the swag stuff they're sending. I have a couple of ideas, but we have a ways to go, so let's chat at the beginning of January. Friends are good resource.

Sounds good. Those releases are usually the same releases we always use, but are stamped by the admin's at iStock, so it speeds up the acceptance time for our queued images.

I remember seeing them in RRI, but don't remember them all that well... after all Jamie was so helpful during that lypse, taking care of the releases for all of us photogs.


I was glad to see you could make the lypse Loretta. It will be nice to shoot with someone who I have shot with before! My wife liked the images you took of her (even though she was NOT expecting to be a model lol).
