With the launch of iStockaudio I have been doing a lot more searching on the site, and sometimes I want to view only audio files within someone's portfolio (not do a search, just to see what they have altogether cause I like their style). It's always difficult to do this, since most of the time all the boxes are checked (Photo/Video/etc.) and if I un-check them and refresh the page in a portfolio, it just re-checks the boxes. The only way I can get around this is by unchecking all the boxes except audio (or whichever one I want to view) and then click on a link somewhere on the page, then click back on a link to get to their port (and even that doesn't always work).

So, my suggestion would be to have a box in the search bar at the top of the page that would have a drop-down to automatically refresh the page with the results, just like the "Sort" drop-down box does. This way if a customer wants to view ONLY one specific type of file then they can just click once and see them. Here's how I picture it:

Yes, yes. ... Yes. Something. Having to check a type and flip from "Best match" to "Age" and back again, is truly bad interface design.

Or just have a button next to the checkboxes. So you check whichever boxes you want and then click the button to update the file types displayed. It can't be that hard.
