iStockalypse HQ - Welcome Home

If you walk down between the windows at the southwest point of our wedge-shaped cafeteria, you can see two thirds of the horizon. The railroad tracks run past us on all sides, and depending on the time of day, the whole office can be hemmed in by trains. South of us cement mixers turn in and out of the concrete factory and trucks loaded with chicken coops come and go from the poultry plant.

At the Shamrock hotel there is a sign stressing that only registered guests are allowed in the rooms at any times. And across the parking lot the back of the violin restorer's shop is still black with soot from a long-time ago fire that took out most of the roof. You can even see the old iStock office across the tracks.

The downtown skyline is on our right - highrises and cranes building new highrises. On a clear day, you get a clear view of the Rocky Mountains in the west.

It's a pretty great view. We look forward to sharing it with you. We are very proud to announce that the largest iStockalypse ever will take place here in Calgary.

Just read the website. Sounds very well planned and thought out.

vcr, can you comment on whether you'll have equipment and training on said equipment, like easy to make dollys or cranes. ie., will we learn more than just directing models in front of our static lens?

eta: Also, under social tickets, it says "We will not be providing transportation or daytime catering." That just applies to social tickets, and not regular attendees, right? ie., we don't all need rental cars, correct?

Welcome to ehlypse. In the words of Canuck music royalty Randy Bachman, BBBBBBBBBBAAAAAAABBBBBYYYYYY, you ain't seen nothing yet.
Posted Fri Mar 13, 2009 11:17AM
Just a reminder: Any illustrators who'd like to join us can buy a 'Social Ticket'. We will be planning a Vectorlypse, but as we don't require funds for lighting, models, props, locations, etc, we've decided to make our portion part of the social program
