![]() ![]() Posted Fri Oct 12, 2012 12:47PM | Hi - After four years at istock I've just begun using DeepMeta. Thanks for the tool! One question: I've uploaded about 115 model releases but the last ten or so do not have a working thumbnail, just a red box with the question mark. Does this mean they will not work, or are they still functional? |

You can always check the release itself by clicking in the list and looking at the preview. |
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Posted Fri Oct 19, 2012 2:08PM | I'm pleased to announce DeepMeta version 1.6 Beta 1 Attention: this is a test version! There is no need to download and use it, unless you're willing to try out new features and fixes, as well as report any issues to me. Note that the current version 1.5.12 is stable and works well. Changes for the Mac version: - Updated country list for Editorial (only CuraƧao not supported, due to iStock site encoding issues). Some of the countries in the Editorial drop-down box at the iStock site were renamed. The iStock API demands these exact same names, so they had to be adjusted in DeepMeta as well. - New encrypted password system (requires v1.6b1 or higher on all involved systems) -> "Restricted access" now imposes following restrictions: > Generating an encrypted credential is not possible > All statistics values shown as 0 > Ratings and Stats tabs not shown > In Windows version: at F5 no more account stats shown. (in Mac version they were not shown anyway) More info on encrypted passwords here - All categories now up-to-date with categories on iStock site again - "Dollar Bin" renamed to "Value collection", conform with iStock site - File description text is no longer trimmed (removal of leading or trainling whitespace). Some users requested this, e.g. for more control over Copy and Paste. - More upload interval choices ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Also note that this release does not fix any current issues resulting from iStock site problems, such as needing double updates to see results at the site and incomplete statistics. These need to be fixes by iStock on the website itself. I have requested an update on a ticket regarding these issues, but have not received any information yet. I'll post back when/if I find out more. Happy beta testing and let the reports come in! |
![]() ![]() Posted Sat Oct 20, 2012 2:44AM | One little wish for the future. When I flll in the data for a file and go to the releases page it is sorted chronologically with the oldest release on top so I have to scroll down to the bottom as I ususally need one of the latest uploaded releases for newer files. It takes a second or two and as everything else is so nicely streamlined I would love to have the order inversed with the latest MR:s on top. |

In the list of releases, you can click on the column header at the top "Date added". It will sort by date. Click once more to reverse the sort order. DeepMeta will remember this sorting the next time. Does this solve what you'd like to accomplish? If not, let me know more details. Thanks. |

Changes for the Mac version: - DeepMeta now sends updated file data to the iStock site twice. This is a work-around for the iStock site problem which shows cached data on the File view page. Hopefully this bug will soon be fixed in the iStock site; as soon as this happens, I'll switch of the double updates in DeepMeta. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Happy beta testing and keep the reports come in! |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Posted Fri Nov 23, 2012 2:27AM | Hi, I am not sure if this is a DM issue or iStock issue, but when I go to fetch statistics (F5), I get very little back apart from the new files I have uploaded recently. For example, that is 6 statistics over the course of a few days from 4 new uploads and 700+ files. Usually I get much more statistics updated from iStock over this time? Would this be a communication issue with DM or is telling me my IS portfolio is not able to be viewed by anyone? I am using the current version of DM. thanks! |
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Posted Sun Nov 25, 2012 4:48AM | This has been going on for a few months (since the last iStock site update). New views don"t appear to be reported correctly, not at the site either. iStock are aware of this and promised to look into it. Thanks for reporting through. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Posted Wed Nov 28, 2012 11:46AM | Hi, I'm using DeepMeta for uploading my files (Using OS X). Last time I uploaded five different photos with same keywords and model releases. So I copy/paste data and model releases to all new photos. Today I received notice from inspector that photos need model release. Is it possible that DM didn't send model releases? |

You should not copy/paste MRs in DM... once you have uploaded the MRs into DM, then you just select the applicable MR in the 'releases' window during individual image data imput. |

You should not copy/paste MRs in DM... once you have uploaded the MRs into DM, then you just select the applicable MR in the 'releases' window during individual image data imput. Using Copy/paste of keywords as well as releases is a feature of DeepMeta. This is perfectly good practice. There have been spurious reports in the past where uploaded releases get lost at the iStock site, both when uploaded through DeepMeta or through the site. iStock has never been able to get to the bottom of that, so the problem lingers on. After uploading, you can always test a few files and go to their edit page at the site. It should say "has model release". That's no guarantee for it not getting lost at a later stage, still, it will show that DeepMeta has indeed uploaded the release. Also make sure to read the rejection notice carefully. Sometimes there is a MR but it was not accepted, e.g; because it is not legible. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Posted Thu Dec 13, 2012 10:50AM | Deep Meta crops my descriptions when I use characters like "ö". I already posted this problem about a year ago, but there still is no solution... I just uploaded some images from Turkey. For example when I write the name of a little town called "Göreme" in my description, the text is cropped right after the "G" when the image is uploaded. I always have to fix the rest of the text directly on iStockphoto... Not my favourite kind of workflow... |
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Posted Sat Dec 15, 2012 2:54AM | Yes this is one of the worst problems, still not solved. The reason this happens is that the iStock API servers, used by DeepMeta to communicate, have a character encoding problem, making it impossible to get certain characters across to iStock. (through the site, this is no problem). I have reported this to iStock a few years ago, but they have not been able to fix this yet. DeepMeta contains a number of sophisticated tricks to work around this problem, but this only works for certain situation. I hope this problem will get solved at the root sometime. Until then, I'll see if I can test some more to see if there are other work arounds. Thanks for reporting. |
