Sometimes I think I'm living on my own planet. I'm frustrated as hell by these unexplained problems and I'm surrounded by people whooping for joy that things are working again! Sheesh. Must be an age thing

It's technology ... unexplained h*ck happens and IMO they do a great job jumping on the problem and resolving it ASAP. This is a huge site and it takes a lot more work than most of us can fathom (including me)! |

I just don't take things for granted and I appreciate when things get sorted. I was able to upload manual anyway, so it wasn't a big deal in my opinion.
I don't know about the age thing though, I am still too young for that |

Nicolesy ... in software it is always people. When dealing with hardware or networks there are some elements of mistery .. but not with software. This phrase about mistery of technology was created by us, people in technology to cover our misfortunes at work place. Believe it or not, this observation is coming from someone who is doing this for ever (meaning developing, deploying and caring about complex software systems).

Posted Fri May 22, 2009 3:05PM | ^^ Yes, I realize that, but it's not like they are messing things up on purpose. |

LOL .. you are absolutely rigth! We software people never do it on purpose. Unfortunately in most of these cases (I'm only assuming at this point), there is lack of processes to stop the failure in the first place. There is whole science out-there dealing exactly with this things. It is called Change Management. |
Posted Fri May 22, 2009 3:14PM | I thank you and my balls too.. Have a good weekend. |

Know what you mean. I used to get like that but when you get even older you get over it. The again, you are from Wales and I lived many years in the capital of Wales ... Shrewsbury (time to shut up Phillips) |
Posted Fri May 22, 2009 4:55PM | Just got back from a lovely 3 day vacation in France. I see there have been some problems over here. There WAS internet in the hotel, but my wife warned me to not even come near it
Sorry I couldn't be of much help this way, but the problem was with the iStock servers, so there was not much I could have done anyway, as it seems.
Glad to see that iStock has been able to fix those Server errors. Thanks Rob for keeping people informed. |

I'm gonna take a wild guess that this error didn't even affect you, since you don't have any images in your portfolio. |

mdm nicolesy ;your guess are wrong! the bad look on my side too..75 are waiting to be uploaded..anyway my quote was rather why there ar no alternative upload possibilitis on istock. this 500 server problem seemed to apear more oftern in the last times,if i read this topics, even im a newcommer on this plattform, dosen mean im a newcommer in this business..other big plattforms like fotolia or shutter provide this webbrowser upload possibilitis!
but now everthing seemd to be working and we are all happy again!
