So...who will get to hit the home run, and hit the ball off the page?

Fast inspections! Love when that happens. No dl yet or acceptances for me. Woke up to a computer that won't turn on....I get a dim light when I push the button then nothing. I am hoping the on has just worn out. No sound, nothing other than a dim illumination of the on button....I will have to investigate further but not sure where to start. Thank goodness after all the moves I still knew exactly where my laptop and cord were hiding!

Maybe it's in a sleep mode of some kind? Try holding the button in for 5-10 seconds and listen for a switching off noise. It should start normally after that. (Assuming it's a PC and not a Mac)

Not only are the inspections fast, this one was accepted yesterday morning at 7:51am and it sold in less than 24 hours!

Ted, one thing that sometimes helps when using screen or multiply is to use the image luminance to create a mask. It is quick and way more accurate than hand painting a mask. For instance, usually you are using screen to brighten the shadows but it is too much for the highlights. So load the luminance channel as a selection, then invert it, and apply it is a maks to your screen layer. The inverted brightness onyl applies your screen to the dark areas and protects the highlights. For multiply dont inver the selection and it will only darken the bright areas. Sometimes you have to adjust the mask soem or hand paint on it some but it usually is pretty close.

I do like the casual feel to that shot.

Kathy good luck with the computer. I hope it is simple. If the advise above doesn't help it may be a bad power supply. Hope not.

Kathy, good luck with your pc.

Ted, i love your new pic, wonderful.

When i have harsh light like that, i fix it usually in LR, with brushes working separately in lights and shadows. Do you have LR, Ted?

Definitely not in sleep mode. When I push the button, sometimes I get the dim light, sometimes nothing. Sometimes there is a little click/whir sometimes not and when it does make the sound it is very brief. I am hoping it is just a connection problem with the power button wires. I'll have it looked at first thing this morning. Completely changes my plan for the day but I really don't want to be without my editing computer.

First of the day here:

Taken this past October. I figured it would be a good opportunity for some relatively unique photos if he and I took a short local ride. It was the first time I'd ridden in his car - with him driving - in at least five years. Likely closer to ten. It is now most certainly the last. All the reasons I stopped riding in his car came flooding back. Too many details - I'll spare you most of them. You'll have to trust me, but the best example was when we were moving along in traffic on a 45mph highway. I was trying to take a shot of him driving, but he kept looking at me. So I felt compelled to keep glancing ahead. He was just blasting along enjoying the modeling when I suddenly said "Hey Dad - that car up ahead is stopping to turn!" His response was to immediately stop our car. Completely. On the highway. I said "What are you doing?? There's another car right behind us!!!"

He said "Oh, I thought you told me to stop..."

I insisted he drive me home immediately. Without stopping. Upshot was this is one of only two or three photos I got worth keeping during the whole traumatic 40 minute ride.

---- No, I don't have Lightroom, Silvia. And I'm not sure whether my PS Elements 10 has the functionality you described Steve...? Yes, a permanent darkroom it is for me, you two!! Quite peaceful in here, actually.

Trying to help you here Jonathan with two consecutive (maybe) posts... I forget to mention I had an EL yesterday. First of the year. A shot of my driving model just above, but it's the one of him in his WWII veteran hat I've shown before. An EL is awfully rare for me, but always a nice little bump.
