What about "Copy Space"?  From what I have read on the forums, that seems to be a misused term quite frequently, so I'm sure that would help quite a few people!

I add my vote for 'Copy Space'. Some others I have difficulty with are: 'Full Frame', 'Sun' (!) and 'Traditional Culture'.

"Copy Space" will definitely be in a future installment. Thanks!

Great thread Ethan. Thanks for doing this.

Here's one that bugs me all the time: Wallpaper. This one is ripe for abuse.

what about "nobody"? to me, there are some times when it's obvious (like a picture of an apple, nobody clearly works), but what about if there is an arm or hand or foot touching said apple...is that a nobody?

ETA:  this is probably a quick one so this could be combined with some other term...

Yeah, this one comes up a bit. Generally, I'd say if the body part is minor and incidental to the image, "Nobody" is probably ok, but for the most part, a buyer who goes out of his way to include "Nobody" in his search is most likely looking for a shot of the subject with no one around. Just the thing itself. So "Nobody" should really be just for those that have the subject alone and no human parts. It's really going to come down to the specifics of the individual images.

Place keywords - when is it OK to use and when not. I just did a search for Seattle and found a lot of close up shots of tomatoes, carrots, radishes etc. No surroundings, not context, just fruit and veg. I didn't want shots like that - I wanted shots that were clearly of the place (even though I'm sure the contributor was correct that these were shot in Seattle) not shots that happened to be taken there.

These were very recently approved, so this isn't a history issue. I thought you had to show something of the landscape or cityscape to use a place. Or possibly something unique to that place (e.g. kangaroos in Australia) - which tomatoes clearly aren't. At any rate, it seemed like a good topic.

Your assessment of when to use and when not to use place names is spot on, 100%. I agree - a TOTW thread that reiterates that would be a great idea. We'll add that to the list.

I know i've asked (and it's been answered), but might be useful to have an expanded general explanation on the limits/differences of baby/child/toddler/infant

In the light of many recent threads "Christmas" would be a good term for the TOTW.

I wouldn't mind a clarification of the usage of "evening vs dusk vs night vs sunset vs ____". Probably not as much of a priorty as the others and may be a quick answer....

Sounds good, we'll hit that in a future installment.
