4.1 - File Formats

Logo submissions consist of a vector EPS file and a high resolution PNG preview. We strongly recommend that you also include alternate color versions of your design (black, reversed, etc.), although this is not required.

Vector EPS files

Your vector file must be CMYK and saved as an Adobe® Illustrator version 8.0 EPS. If you're not using Illustrator and aren't sure you've saved the right EPS version, just open your EPS file into a text editing program and look at the top line of text. Your EPS file must read '3.0' or lower ('3.1' means the file is not AI8 compatible).

Please note that certain effects won’t work when you save your file as an AI8 EPS, such as transparencies, glows, feathers, etc. For more information on AI8 compatibility please read the article: Are You Compatible?

PNG preview files

In addition to your vector submission, we will need a PNG preview of your design. You must ensure that your PNG files have a transparent background. Your PNG files should be sized to a minimum of 1900 x 2800 pixels (though they can be larger if you wish).

It's critical that your PNG preview match your logo design, so double-check that you're uploading the correct preview with your vector files. The color, subject matter and composition of your PNG must accurately reflect your AI8 EPS, or your logo design will be declined.

Alternate files (optional but highly recommended)

To offer your clients as much flexibility as possible, we strongly recommend that you submit alternate color versions of your logo design. Alternate files include useful versions such as black, reversed or different colored designs.

The requirements for alternate files are the same as your logo design: you will need an AI8 EPS file as well as a high resolution PNG preview of your design.

You may upload up to three alternate versions of your design per submission.

File extensions and naming

All of the files that you submit must end in the proper extensions. For example, your AI8 EPS will end with “.eps”, and your PNG will end in “.png”. Any file submissions without proper file extensions will be declined. We will be naming your vector files for you so there’s no need to name your files in a certain way, however, you will still need to give your file the correct extension.

DO

  • Save your vector files as Adobe Illustrator 8-compatible EPS files
  • Save alternate versions of your logo: black, reversed, and an alternate color design
  • Create separate transparent PNG thumbnail of your files, sized 1900 x 2800 pixels (minimum)

DO NOT

  • Use effects that aren't AI8 EPS-compatible (ex: transparencies, drop shadows, or other raster effects)
  • Upload AI9+ vector EPS files: These files cannot be opened in some vector software programs
  • Upload RGB logo designs
