Engraving of the Coat of Arms of Hanger Lord Coleraine, item 128 of an 18th-century publication. Text on this engraving, including motto, reads: 128 Hanger, Lord Coleraine (Aungier, Annger etc.) ARTES HONORABIT (He will do honour to the arts) Gabriel Hanger, Lord Coleraine, was created a peer in 1761. Through similar-sounding names such as Aungier and Annger, the name Hanger is thought to derive from Ongar in Essex.
