Description
An old, handwritten and handpainted book (approx. 13th - 14th century). The book is written in the ancient language Geez, which is not used anymore except as liturgical language of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church,

Location: "Church of Our Virgin Mary of Zion", the most important orthodox church in Ethiopia, it was the place where the Ethopian Emperors became crowned.

Axum (also written as "Aksum") was the original capital of the kingdom of Axum (which was also identified as Abyssinia and Ethiopia). The town Axum is considered to be the holiest city in Ethiopia and is an important destination of pilgrimages. It is claimed that the Biblical Ark of the Covenant is hidden in the "Church of Our Lady Virgin of Zion".
