Selva di Progno, Italy - August 24, 2008: Man in traditional dress shoots with his Trombino, a muzzle-loading weapon that over the centuries has lost its connotation of weapon to become a tool of party. The festival takes place every year in San Bortolo delle Montagne, the mountains north of Verona.

The Trombino della Lessinia has distant traditions, evolved in a small area between Verona and Vicenza, in the Veneto region. Today, loaded only with blanks and targeted solely on the ground, it marks the beginning of the traditional festivals with the deafening sound of the explosions.
