The Bentonite Hills are an area of badlands in a remote part of Capital Reef National Park. Badlands are characterized by soft easily eroded soils, usually composed of clay, often highly colored, that are easily eroded into fantastic shapes. In the Bentonite Hills, there are scattered lava erratics from an ancient volcanic eruption.
