Description

Burghley House the Elizabethan stately home, near Stamford, Lincolnshire. The house stands in a Capability Brown landscaped Park. It was built in the 16th century for Sir William Cecil who was Lord High Treasurer to Queen Elizabeth I. The building is one of the finest examples of English Elizabethan architecture. The glorious 17th century gold leaf, wrought iron gates are the work of Jean Tijou.
