Description

Part of a carrstone wall in Norfolk, England. Carrstone is found around the Kings Lynn - Hunstanton area of West Norfolk and is usually a bright yellow-orange or reddish colour. Carrstone is also known as silsoe, carstone and gingerbread and is a sedimentary conglomerate sandstone. The colour comes from the iron oxide content and varies depending on how much of the iron oxide is contained within the sandstone.
