Description
Radiation sign in front of "Chernobyl Nuclear Power Station", Ukraine

The worst nuclear accident in the history was happened in 1986. Chernobyl reactor 4 exploded. The big chimney (on the left) is original chimney of the reactor. You can see 'the sarcophagus' at the image. It was build after the accident to protect the world from very high levels of radiactivity. Chernobyl is the old name of the power plant. The new one is Vladimir Ilyich Lenin Nuclear Power Plant. The new shelter is being assembled just 600m away from the existing Sarcophagus. When it will finished we can't see the old sarcophagus anymore. This is one of the last photographs of the old sarcophagus. From left to right: Reactor 4, 3, 2 and 1. The water is coming from river Pripyat for cooling the reactor. Pripyat was abandoned in 1986 after a nuclear disaster in Chernobyl power plant. There are still high radiation levels at the region. Radiation will survive 900 years.

Focus is on the sign.
