Caipirinha cocktail comes from Brazil and is considered a characteristic drink of the country. It's simplicity, sweetness

and popularity all over the world has made it one of the 50 greatest drinks of all time.

It's name is derived from the word "caipira" wich refers to someone from the contryside. It's Portuguese name is feminine,

meaning "country girl".

Original Caipirinha is made of:

2 table spoons granulated sugar
1 lime cut into 8 wedges
2.5 oz cachaca

There are many variations:
Caipifruta is prepared the same way, but replacing or complementing the lime with other fruit (lemon, grapefruit, passion fruit, pine-apple, kiwi, strawberry)

Caipiroska is made by replacing the cachaca with vodka

Caipirissima is Caipirinha made with rum instead of cachaca

Caipisake, the Japanese version, uses Sake instead of cachaca
