Description
Interior of La Mezquita Cathedral (Mosque of Cordoba) in Córdoba, Spain. More than 850 columns of granite, onyx, jasper and marble support the roof. The double arches consist of a lower horseshoe arch and an upper semi-circular arch. The famous alternating red and white voussoirs of the arches were inspired by those in the Dome of the Rock. This photograph depicts columns in the part of the mosque that was built by Al-Mansur Ibn Abi Aamir in 987.
