Medium , rough-hairy annual, usually branched. Leaves pinnately-lobed, with narrow, toothed divisions. Flowers scarlet, 7-10cm, the petals overlapping, often with a black blotch at the base, anthers bluish; flower stalks with spreading hairs. Capsule rounded, hairless.
Habitat: Cultivated fields, waste places, field boundaries, roadsides.
Flowering Season: June-October.
Distribution: Throughout Europe, local in Wales and Scotland.

This is a typical Summer Plant that stands along Dykes and so on. The red Colour gives a very Summer feeling. Corn Poppy is known as a Medical Plant.
