Utrecht, the Netherlands - August 15, 2011: Cyclists waiting at red traffic light in Utrecht while busses are passing by. Location: Smakkelaarsveld, adjacent to the bus station and Utrecht central railway station. Most of these people are commuters, returning home from work or school at the end of afternoon. Cycling is a common and popular method of transportation in the Netherlands. At the background is a free bicycle parking facility. At this location 2.500 bicycles can be parked. The facility is temporal (a library will be built here in the future) and has been created because of the shortage of bicycle parking facilities close to the railway station. Most people travelling by train in the Netherlands cycle to the train station. Most bicycles parked in this facility belong to commuters.
