Dragonhead of Norwegian Stave Church. Stave Church (stavkirke in Norwegian) is medieval wooden church with a post and beam construction where the load-bearing posts (stafr in Old Norse) have lent their name to the building technique. Originally much more widespread, most of the surviving stave churches are in Norway.
